Assassins Creed 2 handily takes it in my book. But I could have told you that in 2008.
I thought 2009 would be a real shit year for me regarding games, as I'm no fan of Halo, Resident Evil or CoD. But with AC2, Batman:AA and Borderlands, Shadow Complex and my girl caving and picking up Left4Dead2, it's turned out to be a pretty good year after all.
Time for me has been scarce most of the year, so it's that much more surprising when I find myself playing a game long after I've finished it. Uncharted 2 has me doing just that with trophies and online. Street Fighter IV and the PS3 release of Tales of Vesperia were also noteworthy.
All I gotta say is it better not be MW2... It's the SAME game as last year. I mean yeah, I play it daily and it's fun as all hell but it doesn't deserve GOTY.
While Modern Warfare was good (read: Orgasmic), my vote would actually be thrown up to Assassin's Creed 2.
I just loved that game so hard. It was so much more playable for me for some reason. And you felt amazingly badass when you did things correctly (and thus, awesomely).
Mine would have to be Batman: Arkham Asylum followed by Borderlands and Assassins Creed 2. I was uber excited for Batman and it was much better than I had hoped for. Borderlands was under my radar and just blasted it's way on the scene surprising me. And my disappointment with the last Assassins Creed game made me have low expectations for the new game...but was surprisingly good. But I would have to say Batman was the most fun I've had.
Had the most fun with game like Tales of Vesperia(came out in eu this year) and uncharted 2... btw sure Modern Warfare 2 produce more content probably...
i got 2 but cant decided becasue there both for different reasons. first ill start with MW2, the single player for me was a good experice not amazing but i had a lot of fun with the set peices and i loved all the different over the top settings for a shooter, but for me the multiplayer is amazing (minus javalin hack fags) i love the rpg hooks that it has with the xp system and the modifictions they have made from the first one to add the callsigns and embelms. and the second one is uncharted 2, i'll keep this one short but the single player to me was as close to perfect as a game has gotten in years the epic set peices, stunning visuals, and solid story had me not wanting to put the contoller down the entire time i played it, now the reason thats not number one is becuase i am a huge online gamer so when i review a game i do it on a sum of all parts and i feel multiplayer is just as important if not more because thats what keep you coming back for month or years in the case of halo or cod, now thats not to say that i didnt think uncharted was good online because it was solid but it was nothing special, and not to mention when im on my ps3 85% of the time it might as well be a game of bots because no one has a mic or if they do they just never use it. i would rather have all the pain in the ass people on live because u can just mute them (which only takes 2 sec, im tired of people crying about people on live mute them or just get over it because its really not that bad most of the time).
