Hey guys.

Very easy again. Name your most hated stages in a video game.

Mine is the damn Water Temple in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time. I just couldn't stand switching the water level every two minutes.

I would really apreciate your responses!
Cheers

Escort missions. Any of them.
The one that comes to mind is the escort mission in the beginning Fable is horrendous.
The combination of bad AI and the NPC not being able to even fight effectively makes it a pain every time.

any. water. stage.

I try to forget all the hours wasted trying to beat this fucking level.

To be honest it probably goes without saying that any stage that has to do with water usually sucks balls. Even if it's a game I never played before, I get that feeling of dread whenever I see a pool of water deeper than my knees.

this post should probably just be renamed water levels v. escort missions. but yeah, water levels are the worst. still hunting down whoever thought that one in
Ocarina of Time was necessary

The Fade mission from Dragon Age. Makes me not want to play that amazing game again because I don't want to go through those 2-3 hours of torture.

I think I've blocked them out of my memory. Or one just doesn't stand out enough.

Taejin's Tower in FFXIII - just seemed like an excuse to grind some more levels before the boss at the end of the chapter.

#19 Posted by Pinworm45 (4088 posts) -

Halo. The Library.

#20 Posted by dvaeg (189 posts) -

The Library.  It was so glaringly a copy/paste and flew in the face of everything the game was until that point...ugh.

#21 Posted by Chango (534 posts) -

Its between the infamous Library in Halo, or the first level in Rio de Janeiro in MW2.

final boss in Conan on the 360...fuck that guy. oh yeah and the  Library from Halo: CE.

I'm still stuck on that boss, it's a shame, since I really do like the game.

All the Mako bits in Mass Effect.

victory roads in pokemon coz u always need a hm slave + trainers litter the place and endless encounters.

EDIT-oh and how could i forget the purple coin challenge on mario galaxy on toy time galaxy, man that was frustrating :@

The Amazon Cave level in Men In Black: The Game. One of the platforms you have to jump is surprisingly difficult to reach and the boss is punishingly cruel.

Another one is Battletoads In Battlemaniacs. Which stage? All of them, especially the Roller Coaster stage. That one can suck frogs.

#27 Posted by spiceninja (3064 posts) -

The sewer level in X-Men Legends was pretty awful.

#28 Posted by GoofyGoober (937 posts) -
The ice cave from pokemon gold, Gluttony and Greed from Dante's inferno.

All of resistance 2... that game just had bad design as a whole.

Wingate Family Level in Gun.Smoke for the NES.  After all these years I still can't beat that level.

Water stages in Sonic:

The Water Temple in Ocarina of Time has been mentioned a few times, I'd also like to mention anything to do with Water in the Mario games, from the classics, up 'til New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the last one I played.
Basically, any water level in any classic game, ever. You have ruined everything.
#34 Posted by OnTheRocks82 (21 posts) -
@matti00: True indeed.  Same can be said (IMO) for sky based levels as well.
#35 Posted by DoctorWelch (2774 posts) -

I used to hate the water temple, but now it is actually one of my favorite temples when I go back and play it. Kinda weird I know.

Any level from any Mega Man game.

#37 Posted by bartok (2571 posts) -

Any stealth stage where it is immediately a game over if you are caught especially in the FPS genre.  Seriously fuck you Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Syphon Filter.

I may be the only person in the world that LOVED The Library in Halo 1. Just running around that place with a shotgun taking out zombies reminded me of old school light-gun games. I always have a blast with it. That Halo 1 shotgun is rad.

The Water Temple comes to mind, but let's face it, it's not that bad. It's just that it was slow, challenging, and pretty darn monotonous. It just seems bad when compared to the rest of Ocarina of Time's awesomeness.

The TMNT and Battletoads levels are definitely good choices. Those ones are beastly. Grunty Industries is certainly one of the worst stages in Banjo-Tooie, though to be honest, there's more than a few stages in that game I'm not a huge fan of.

I imagine that's entirely because of the fact that it's a pain to save Slippy in that level.

Oot's Water Temple, almost any Wily Fortress, and a few that skip my mind.

#40 Posted by Aronman789 (2694 posts) -

The Mako from Mass Effect, never finished the game because of it.

The magic tower in Dragon Age. Fuck god dam I dread going to that part of the game every time I replay Dragon Age. Runner up goes to the Elf Forest and the werewolves in the same game.

I beat it by grinding in the tower for an hour or so. Only to realise that i had overgrinded because it meant that i utterly crushed that particular boss at the top!

I really recommend you do it because the final two chapters after it are some of the best rpg area's ive ever played!

So many!
First 6 Days in  Kingdom Hearts 2.  Not a fan of anime melodrama myself.
Every water zone in every Sonic game. Times puzzles make you drown every two seconds.
The Fade from Dragon Age. Made me stop playing that amazing game for a MONTH because I didn't want to suffer and couldn't mod the level out like the PC version.
Final Tails mission in Sonic Adventure. I almost broke a keyboard playing this as a kid on PC. Also, I didn't know how shitty that game is.
Jet ski section from Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
Prison airship sequence from FFXII. The one with the alarms and infinite enemies. Need I say more?

The very first thing that popped into my mind when reading the title.

Peragus from KOTOR II.

No lightsaber, no human enemies, endless tutorials, insignificant moral choices, long periods of protracted -nothingness- etc.

The first one that comes to my mind is in RE5 fighting wesker and jill on professional solo.
