A Note on Spam

If you see any signs of: 

• Spam posts
• Advertising
• Bots
• 'Trolls'

How about being helpful? such as referring them to the Site Rules & FAQ if they are a new user?

I'm guilty to replying to threads after I report them. Sometimes the topic is just so outrageous that I need to get that stupid comment out there. I'll try to stop that, I guess.
 
Edit: Oh yeah, and I hope people will take heed to this advice, at least through the duration of this newest quest set.

Yeah I usually comment on them and flag them. I'll stop the first. 

Funny that there's a new quest encouraging replies to spammers - ie. new accounts with one post to their name.

Just ban AjayRaz and we'll be fine.
 
Or people that can't appropriately use grammar. Or people who reply to threads with "Cool story bro". That should be an instantaneous exile.

As has been mentioned, it's really a show of self-control here that we're asking from people.

Could someone give me an example of someone trolling. I'm still not understanding it entirely.

I don't comment on spam topics as much as I used to, though I'll still admit I sometimes squeeze out a lamo response to some of them....FROM THIS DAY THAT MUST CHANGE!

Yet, "first"ing is totally fine. In fact, there's a quest for it.
 
Maybe there should just be a quest on here for straight up getting your post flagged... and a even higher scoring one for getting banned.

its fucking fun  dont get me wrong im all for pushing this website to better and better stages, but a bit of troll feeding once a while is really fun and relieving ! "

I've told people not to respond to spam many times, but nobody listens. Maybe now they will since it's a mod telling them.

Feeding trolls is fun but I'll do my best to cut back on that. One thing I won't cut back is the cool story bros. I harness the rage and bitching that some users create from that simple statement to fuel my immortality.

I always did it because I figured the mods would see it quicker the closer it was to the top of the forums.

I've noticed that we've been getting a shit ton of, "Hi I'm New" threads which contain a few sentences from the OP. Would this be considered spam, since there is a thread called, "Introduce Yourself"?

What if I have a hilariously witty comeback? Can I post that? 
 

I think most people do it because they want to have everyone reconise that they helped bring the attention of the post/thread to a moderator and don't want their 'good actions / intentions' to go unnoticed within the community.
 
It's probably the same reason why moderators themselves sometimes like to just write "Locked" or post a little something before they lock a thread, it's to show the community that they were the one who sorted the problem, or did the 'good action'.
