get2sammybAgreed. Gamespot for certain will stay well afloat due to that hit count they have gained over the years, but as far as credibility among seasoned gamers is concerned, it's at the very pits now.
For a long while now since the departures I have seen it slowly slip into mediocrity, but I have stuck with it in the hope things will improve, that has simply not happened. Some of the new writers they have brought in have a dull writing style that seems void of a passion for games. The writing from these newbies is quite frankly generic crap, which is why, now, when Gamespot has a big review up the first thing I do is to skip to the last page to find out the reviewer before reading a single word. I think that speaks volumes.
The show, OTS, the public face of the site, I watched a episode 2 weeks back and I have to say it was really uncomfortable to watch, no doubt the worst episode I have ever seen, and that's no lie. Some of the moments in that show had me cringing, I had to stop watching it was so bad. Ryan in the host role simply does not work, nor does Brian Ekberg for that matter, they are both great people but they lack the charisma to host a show of the sort. Who Gamespot needs sitting in that chair is somebody as zesty and as passionate and engaging to watch as Rich was, it's that simple.
I actually thought at the time Homer Rabarra would have been absolutely perfect choice, but clearly the powers that be have crap in their eyes not to be able to see something so obvious.
