I prefer InFAMOUS, it has fun gameplay with a unique city. Prototype seems generic with boring gameplay.

Depends what you want, Prototype is more over the top fun than Infamous (wich is also an great game).

Entirely different games with different gameplay styles. But as long as that has been established, inFAMOUS I believe has a more polished world, slicker action, and a better story, although neither are particularly strong in that departament.

Prototype appeals to people who just like to "blow shit up," and is really havily reminiscent of Hulk: UD. They're both good games, but I feel infamous is superior.

Still, the games are entirely different, and shouldn't be compared any more than we should be asking "Better Game, Gears of War or MGS?"

I guess my main problem with Prototype is the bland city, everything is way to square and boring.

I mean the design, the city is made up of generic grey buildings, it just doen't appeal to me.

The action is good, but the city feels lifeless.

If you look at it from that perspective, I agree.

@Ant1ive: If you create a thread in the forums it will give you the option to create a poll. You know, so that people can cast a vote?

@Ant1ive: He means that you ought to have made a poll, so that people can just click on whichever game they prefer.

Anyway, while I have played neither game, and will only ever play Prototype due to my lack of a PS3, watching gameplay videos of them have led me to think that InFamous is the superior game. Then again, I could be completely wrong.

The games are worlds apart, so it's nearly impossible to compare them.

I personally prefer the speed and insanity of Prototype though...  Infamous looks fun in it's own way, but it's just not my style.

This. The only similarities comes from the fact they're both open world games and use a similar premise - guy wakes up with powers, city quarantined etc.

Ultimately it depends what you want, a game full of over-the-top gore and melee powers like Prototype, or one that focuses on shooting and cool platforming mechanics like InFamous. Personally I prefer the latter.

Yeah, a poll would have been better. This really didn't need to be a blog.

kinda hard for a game to look alive with a screenshot.  just watch the Quick Look.  Utter madness, explosions everywhere, 3-5 helicopters/tanks onscreen at once.

These images make the game look pretty lifeless...  The majority of Infamous has action and explosions, but so does Prototype.  You simply looked for an image of Prototype that made it seem boring and lifeless, but if you look through the images of both of these games, you'll find enemies attacking, civilians
running for their lives, and the like.  Both of these games have action-packed potential, but none of these images show that potential.  It's pretty easy to       make an awesome game look boring.

I LOVE Infamous.  Prototype looks cool, but not good enough for me to spend money on.  It looks like a hulk game, very repetitive.  Infamous is awesome, gliding from building to building, riding the train tracks and throwing unlimited shock grenades and rockets down at everyone hahahaa

I picked an image that demonstrated what I was trying to say, in my opinion, InFAMOUS has a variety of buildings of all shapes and sizes creating an interesting environment.  While Prototype has a city filled with similar buildings which get repetitive, Prototype is a good game, but I think that InFAMOUS is a much more dynamic experience.

Just because they're not the same type doesn't make them impossible to compare. If anything, it gives the ppl more challenge. That's like saying it's wrong to compare Freddy Kruger and Jason, or even a comedy vs drama. After this, I'l make a  blog about that cuz im tird of having this argument.

They're both a piece of shit. Infamous is one of those dumbass American fictional fantasy. Prototype is one of those rushed games with horrible graphics and shit gameplay.

inFamous is a really great game; great atmosphere, graphics and combat. Prototype feels unfinished in a lot of ways in my opinion, but it's still a good game.

I side with prototype... mainly because even if the city looks lifeless, there is a ton of ways to explore the experience, more than what i seen in infamous.

I also prefer the beat'em up perspective over the third person shooter one, though i like third person shooters.

Edit the OP and make a POLL!!!!! And make sure you clarify this for people who have played both games.

InFamous is a much better game, but prototype is pretty fun. Just not as gameplay-focused as inFamous. Prototype is all about insane looking shit going on, inFamous is much more about good shooting and using other weapons/powers, and lots of fun platforming- sly cooper style.

First off, the pics of inFamous you got there do not look lifeless or bland at all. They both have a very artistic, sort of atmospheric look to them, and they show off a city that looks lived in, full of stories to tell, despite there being no people except for cole in the shot. The pic from Prototype has lots of people, lights, cars, buildings etc, yet it somehow looks incredibly bland and boring. Those inFamous shots look meaningful.
one of the things that differentiates these games is the city, its a huge difference, and just because both games have lots of people and crazy things happening on the streets, inFamous' city is still way more 'alive" in that it has a very distinctive artistic design and truly looks like the city was lived in, for many years, before the events that took place.
For instance, After beating both games i noticed something very peculiar. In inFamous, you will pretty much learn this city (actually discovering new things within it doesn't get old) because it is full of so many distinctive landmarks everywhere. Every street is filled with different looking buildings all well designed by artists, each island has different looking architecture in general. By the end of the game, you end up knowing the city very well. If you were dropped onto a random intersection, you could easily recognize where you are. Can't say the same for Prototype at all, especially if you were to drop me into a random intersection in that game, i'd have to look at the map or run up a building real quick to see everything because everything looks the same.
