I have a subscription to playboy and maxim and my brother in law thinks that it's disrespectful to my wife. But I only have these magazines for the articles. Does anyone agree with me that I'm not being disrespectful? I really want him to shut up about it.

I have a subscription to neither, but if you truely do only read them for the articles and not for the "porn" then I don't really see a problem with that.

Ask her how she feels and not post a thread on a gaming website? (Granted it's off-topic I understand. It's just the answers you might receive...) I, for one, think it's a bit disrespectful. But it could also be a good thing if you get your wife into the act.

I honestly have no fucking idea why you would seriously read those for the articles (I have suspect you're a joke account) but that's your prerogative.

Fuck that! Playboy has incredible articles, man! Their 20Q section is a definite must-read, their investigative reports are incredibly interesting, and of course, the interviews. Dood, I'll never forget how fucking awesome their interview with John Malkovich was. Very seldom does that man get to talk about his love for Dr. Dre's music, but in Playboy, he can talk 'til the cows come home. They have incredibly in-depth interviews. Yeah, there's nude chicks, which is fucking awesome as well. That's what makes it the greatest mag on the planet...most of the time. They, like every other magazine, DO have shitty issues. Nonetheless, it's usually good most of the time. Unfortunately, they've had a serious lacking of celebrities willing to pose, which kind of sucks.

As for Maxim, that magazine isn't even good enough for me to spit on, let alone wipe my ass with.

I don't either, but I've read it on and off for only a year or two (I'm still barely 20), and the articles really aren't that great... the old ones used to be really good though from what I've seen of them. Used to have articles from people like Ian Fleming- some really good stuff. Oh, and I guess the magazine has some naked photos or something like that? Crazy, huh? But seriously, I'm not gonna subscribe to some naked photos if the writing that accompanies it is "meh". I can find stuff elsewhere (Internet anyone?) if I want it.

Oh yeah, tell your brother-in-law to back off. If you enjoy reading the magazine and its fine with your wife (it is right?) then tell him that's none of his business. But if its not okay with your wife, then stop it because that would be being disrespectful to her. Just know what she thinks about it and don't give two shits about what your brother-in-law thinks about it.

BTW, I believe that he only has Playboy for the articles, cause seriously... who the hell finds Playboy's pictures sexy anymore? They've all photoshopped so much that the girls barely resemble human beings at this point.

Tell them you subscribed to EGM, and they sent Maxim to you to replace EGM. (This happened to me, I've got six issues to Maxim to make up for there being no more EGM). Curse your bad luck but say its wasteful not to read it.

If he has access to the internet I can buy reading Playboy/Maxim for the articles, if he wanted pR0n it's not like there's not enough of it on the tubes to choke a giraffe.

And the commenters have it right, if your wife has a problem with it, she should be the one complaining, not her brother in law. If you're worried, ask her if she has a problem with it.
