In light of recent events, the moderation team felt it pragmatic to remind everyone of the following rule: The use of racial and homophobic slurs, or any other discriminatory language is strictly against the Giant Bomb rules. If you use them you will be subject to moderation. Additionally, whichever side of the fence you’re sitting on, it is not okay to mock, make hostile posts towards, or outright insult people who have a different opinion on the use of discriminatory language than you. Our rule zero is don’t be a jerk, please don’t act surprised if you’re moderated for breaking it.

Should the last couple of days on the boards have completely passed you by; the comments on this blog post by Ryan are what we're talking about. That comments section has been hit by an avalanche of posts containing racial and homophobic slurs, and over the past 24 or so hours we’ve had to moderate so many people. We've come to understand that some people are unclear on the rules and think this kind of language is okay. Allow us to alleviate any doubt: It isn't.

While a civil discussion of the use of homophobic and racial slurs in the gaming community is being hosted by Gamer_152 here, ultimately these are the rules, they're not up for debate.
