Jeff has often said that things he buys for gaming are tax write-offs, but I can never tell when he is and isn't joking. I'd love to buy a 3D TV and deduct it.

Dropping a grand on something extremely useful like a laptop every once in a while really isn't that big of a deal once you get a regular paycheck. It's not like they are out doing this every day.
I'm not going to lie - those MacBooks look nice! Admittedly I'd have plumped for the Pro if I had the money for an Apple laptop, because it's called the Pro. But if anyone wants to donate me one I'd be happy with either. By the way, did Jeff go for the 15" or the 17"? I can definitely see it's the bigger of the two, but I'm curious as to which size so I can compare the prices on Apple's UK store.

In my experience, if you pick Canadian, it changes the keyboard so that it has all the crazy french accents more accessibly, which makes terrible things happen if you are used to a standard keyboard layout.
Never pick Canadian English. It's really Canadian French.
The launch of the Mac Mini made me almost buy it, but I ended up building my own HTPC instead. I got a 2.6ghz Sandy Bridge CPU and 8GB of RAM for 40 % lower price than the entry Mini at 2.3ghz and 2GB RAM.
