I don't think they got it wrong at all.  They ruled a people in the only way you can in a communist society.  Oppressing opportunity, rewarding mediocrity, not rewarding achievement, those things tend to rile the masses up.  The only way to shut them up is either in a gulag, in jail, or as good ol' guy Stalin would do, just kill em'.  It's easier that way.  So most people can be middle class, free, and unappreciative for how good they've got it, or everyone can be poor, quiet, or dead.  It's not a tough choice.   The problem with worshiping guys like Marx is pretty soon you start to believe they had it all figured out.  They didn't.  Nobody does.  Not me, not you, not a mod, and certainly....certainly not Marx."
