It's always hard to narrow these down, but the following have consistently been mentioned at one time or another on most of my various "favorites" lists.  [Additional note: WOW isn't so much a favorite anymore, but since I did it for 2 years, it is a game I will remember forever]

I glanced at your avatar and thought for a second you were Wallace. In fact, that was my reason for clicking on this thread. While I'm slightly disappointed that you're not, I will continue and post five games that I'll remember forever. There are several others, but these are the ones I'll remember for the most special reasons.

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2
  • Pokémon Blue
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Shadow of the Colossus
  • Grand Theft Auto IV

Wow.
I thought this thread would be more interesting.
But mostly it's just reading a bunch of game titles.
*sigh*

  • Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past - SNES -

The day I played this game was the day I realized that gaming would be my number one hobby. I was completely amazed at the amount of freedom I had to explore the world without being led by hand and how I was still able to find my way through to its finale. I remember accidentally coming across the invisibility cloak or the first time I picked up one of the medallion and watching every enemy around me decimated by thunderbolts from the sky. I had to force myself to finish it not because I was getting tired of the main story but because I didn't want the game to end.
  • Donkey Kong Country 2 - SNES

This Is Why

  • Viewtiful Joe - Gamecube

This is when substance took over graphics for me. Graphics have never been important to me since. A blurry, thumbsized screenshot in Game Informer turned me off to the game, but I ended up picking it up anyway without realizing it was the very same game I had seen in GI months ago. I loved the asthetic, the style, the music, and the outlandish main character. It was all so viewtiful.
  • Super Mario Bros. - SNES

First video game I ever played. I first played it at a cousin's house and my dad could see how much fun I was having and the very next day came home with an SNES with the game packaged inside if I'm remembering correctly. My parents probably regret getting me into games so much nowadays but the feeling of playing a completely new medium for the first time is something that I get a taste of everytime a new, fully fleshed out Mario game comes out. It takes me back, which is what Nintendo's secret weapon has been all along.
  • Age of Mythology/Age of Empires II - PC

First time I ever played a PC game, let alone master one. In Age of Empires II I was able to win 3 vs 1 matches against an aggressive comp and come out on top with relative ease. Hadn't gotten into playing online back then though, so who knows how good I really was. Age of Mythology was the first game I ever played online and I enjoyed every minute of it. The custom maps of the world and the several game mods to the multiplayer hooked me in for so long. I've sometimes spent up to ten hours taking turns with my younger brother playing matches online. That one summer was a memory I'll never forget.

Super Mario Bros - The first game I ever owned and the first game I ever beat.
Mario 64 - The jump into 3D was amazing, from Mario's rubber face to grabbing Bowser by the tail
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Practically Perfect in every way
Resident Evil 2 - The first time gaming got me so involved I audibly screamed the first time the licker appeared
The Monkey Island Series - all in one, that would take up 80% of my list

Seriously. Would it kill you people to do more than list the most recent five games you played?

Paper Mario - Best RPG ever, the fact that Nintendo turned it into a platformer is disgraceful.
MGS4 - Simply one of the most brilliantly crafted games of all time, virtually no mistakes.
Bioshock - May only be second to MGS4 in its greatness.
Resident Evil 4 - I'll never forget sitting in my room alone at night taking on the two chainsaw sisters with no ammo, I thought i was going to wet myself.
Dark Cloud series - While technically not as good of a game as MGS4 or Bioshock it to this day is my favorite game series. In fact I'm playing through Dark Cloud 1 right now and I'm gonna play through Dark Cloud 2 when I'm done.

  • Mega Man 2 (NES) - Classic sprite animation, tunes that stick in your head, and awesome names to beat.  When I was pretty young, so it leaves a bigger impression.
  • Homeworld (PC )- I got this game after the family recently purchased a new computer, and was completely blown away by the graphics and the true realization that 3-D strategy had come to fruition.
  • Final Fantasy 7 (PS1) - My first real rpg.  So it will always be in my mind as the standard.
  • Crash Team Racing  (PS1) - Coupled with Alicia Keys' album Keys in A Minor, this will be lodged in the brain forever as my brother and I shilled countless hours away during simpler times.
  • TIE-Fighter (PC) - I'm a huge Starwars guy, and this was totally awesome at the time.  Not only did you get to play as the bad guys, but just the idea of flying a TIE fighter was totally awesome when I was that age.  It still is.

Super Mario Bros. 3 - played it for so many hours when I was 7, sucked when summer ended and I couldn't play it on weekdays (oh how times change)

RE4 - I know this game like the back of my hand; I still remember the first time I went through all of the big fights and how badly I sucked, and how I progressed from that to being able to beat it with just the handgun and knife. On top of that, it single-handedly shifted my tastes from platformers and JRPGs to action and shooter titles.

EarthBound - Even though I was 8 or so when I first saw this, I could tell from first glance it was different from the average game, something weird to behold and something that would have a lasting effect on me. And it was.

SSBM - I don't know how many hours I logged on this across friends' systems, but god damn it was a LOT. Ruling over my friends at this game felt so awesome, and getting beaten back to #2 felt so punishing.

StarCraft - This was my first foray into online play - all its greatness, and all its pitfalls as well. Back then I couldn't really tell troll from genuine asshole, and I gave both my undivided attention and hatred regardless.

Honorable mention is WoW, but it's an MMO so it has inherent advantage on playtime, and I remember it for good and bad reasons.

Here goes:

Goldeneye (N64) - Probably still the FPS I'm best at. N64 was my first console, and I played the hell out of this game, alone and with friends. Also, the movie is one of my favourite Bond-movies.
Final Fantasy X (PS2) - I had played RPGs before this one, but this one surpassed all of them in every area.
No One Lives Forever 2 (PC) - My favourite PC game of all time. Love the humor, the characters, the voice acting, just one of the games Ive had the most fun with.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - So charming, so groundbreaking, so amazing. Navi didnt even annoy me very much at the time. :p
Mario Kart 64 (N64) - Best example of why online multiplayer can never live up to local multiplayer in my opinion.

Honourable mentions: Neverwinter Nights, Knights of the Old Republic, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Indigo Prophecy, Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Banjo & Kazooie, Suikoden V, Persona 4, Tekken Tag Tournament, Soldier of Fortune & Spyro the Dragon 2: Gateway to Glimmer.
