Poll: PC gamers, what will you be doing? (441 votes)

I can't wait, I'll just buy it on PS3/360 17%
I can wait, I'll just get the PC version when it comes out 34%
I can't wait, I'll buy the PS3/360 version and buy the PC version later 22%
I have no other choice but to wait, I only have a gaming PC 7%
I don't want to play it at all 10%
Other 10%

Just curious as to what you guys will be doing. I'll probably just pick it up for the PS3 and play it on that, not 100% sure just yet.

I thought I could wait but I couldn't. So I bought it for the PS3. The sucky thing for me is that I have all my consoles stored away. So now when the games comes out I have to take the PS3 out of storage and hook it back up. I guess it's not that big of a deal but I really wanted to put them away for good.

I'll also probably end up buying it for PC too. At first I scoffed at the idea, but then I realized I've already done it with EVERY GTA game. I bought 3 and Vice City originally on PS2 then they came out in a bundle on the Xbox and bought that. Then I got San Andreas for PS2. Sold it at one point. Bought it for PC, and ended up getting my hands on it again years later while buying a lot of PS2 games off of Ebay.

So what's another one I guess?

Canceled my preorder. Going to just wait it out. I really fucking hate playing in front of a TV.

I no longer own a current gen console, so I have no choice but to wait. Already skint enough without paying for an xbox, gold, and a game.

Don't get me wrong, I would sell a lung to play it, this'll be the first GTA game I don't get on release day/midnight, and it's looking to be one of the best

I'm still not sure, I really want it for PC but maybe I will get it for PS3. I still play it from time to time but I haven't bought a full priced game in so long it just feels weird if I do.

I wanna get it, but I'm just going to wait it out. Don't currently have the money for it anyway.

Guild Wars 2, Saints Row 4 and Company of Heroes 2 will get me through.

I can't remember the last game I played on PS3 but I definitely plan to dust it off for GTA5. I'm sure I'll pick up the PC version on sale at some point down the line even if its years from now.

I think Watch_Dogs will scratch this itch for me, so I'll have no problem waiting for the PC version. Also my gaming backlog is big enough to keep me busy.

#7 Posted by armaan8014 (5375 posts) -

I only have a PC but if I owned a console I'd definitely buy it asap :/

#8 Posted by Krullban (1034 posts) -

Playing the PS3 version. Because I don't care. I can always buy it again.

Playing the endless amount of PC games available like ArmA III which has an EVEN BIGGER world than GTA V. Or I might buy GTA V on for PS3/360 if the reviews are any good.

#11 Posted by Chop (1996 posts) -

Gonna fire up my ps3. I'm weak, I often cave to immense hype D;

#13 Posted by Monkeyman04 (1042 posts) -

I don't own a PS3 or 360. So, I'm going to cry until it comes out for PC.

#14 Posted by Pr1mus (3855 posts) -

PS3 now, PC later when on sale.

#15 Posted by FriendlyPhoenix (380 posts) -

I'll get the PS3 version at launch and then get the PC version at a much later date when I can buy it for $10 or so.

#16 Posted by OfficeGamer (1087 posts) -

Hype is nice, but being a responsible grown up who conserves his money and spends wisely is nicer.

I'm not gonna buy it for PS3 when I know I will buy it for PC later, especially that I hate playing shooters without a mouse, it sucks the life out of me.

#17 Edited by LeYcH (216 posts) -

I'll wait for the PC.
I'm not as hyped as everyone else is so I can wait. Besides, I won't be able to aim properly on the PS3 anyways.

#19 Edited by ArtisanBreads (3788 posts) -

Not waiting, that's for damn sure. Fuck that noise.

Getting it on PS3. Then when maybe DLC rolls around and hopefully I'm still into multi I can get a PC version down the road.

This response cracked me up.

I'll wait for it. I want to play it, but I guess not as bad as I thought I would. Plus I have Rome 2 keeping me busy.

#21 Posted by Cameron (596 posts) -

I'm waiting for reviews. If the console version has technical problems like a mediocre frame rate or screen tearing, then I'll wait for the PC version. If they can hit a solid 30fps without crazy tearing, then I'm in.

This will most likely be what I'll do, all of the footage of the game has surprised me in that I haven't seen any serious FPS drops

Buying the PS3 version on release day, no way I'm giving this a pass 'till the pc-version (assumedly) comes out. But when it does, I'll probably buy it too.

#24 Edited by ArtisanBreads (3788 posts) -

I think this thread nicely shows why releasing the game this way was a good decision for Rockstar.

#25 Posted by BaneFireLord (2918 posts) -

Definitely double dipping. Sure, I'm falling into their trap like a good little sheep, but fuck it. From everything I've seen, GTAV and Rockstar deserve it.

#26 Posted by Ben_H (3335 posts) -

I'm getting it on Xbox now, and will get it on PC later.

I agree there are obvious business reasons it makes sense (look at all these double dips) but also from the bit I've seen trying to avoid spoiling it, it seems like they really nailed performance on the current gen hardware, which I'm sure took a lot of effort.

#28 Posted by OfficeGamer (1087 posts) -

All this double dipping makes me kind of disappointed in you guys. I respect that you can do whatever the hell you want with your money, but really? Spending on the same game twice? And perpetuating the notion that console games sell better, instead of putting your money towards the PC sales statistics page only?

Damn.

I'm not playing PC vs console politics with my time and money, that's crazy.

And Rockstar is by far my favorite developer, couldn't feel less guilty double dipping on a game that looks as good as GTA V looks.

#30 Edited by Glottery (1186 posts) -

I don't mind buying the same game twice, at least when it's a very good game in question (so hasn't happened too many times). Bought Max Payne 3 originally for PS3 and then the pc-version in january. The fact that Gamestop was selling it for around 9 euros or so helped the decision quite a lot.

#31 Posted by Andorski (5239 posts) -

I caved in like a bitch and pre-ordered the 360 version. I'll probably get the PC version when it comes out though depending on how good the multiplayer is.

Eh, as great as it's looking, I can certainly wait. It's still gonna be there when I go buy it, so I don't see what the big hurry is.

#34 Edited by 49th (2722 posts) -

I'm just going to end up waiting. I don't feel like playing on PS3 since it is in another room and it's more comfortable to play these kinds of games on PC for me.

Also graphics I guess

#35 Posted by SoothsayerGB (1468 posts) -

I do not want and will not be playing this title on last gen hardware. Don't feel like hooking up a lame duck to play a "new" game. Have some summer sale titles to catch up on anyway.

#36 Posted by bawalo (63 posts) -

After upgrading my PC this february I am just having a really hard time playing PS3 games. Especially now that many new releases have had serious framerate issues as of late. I'll pick it up on PC or PS4 if such versions will ever exist..

#37 Posted by Troispoint (267 posts) -

I'll hold out for the PC version, I'm not a huge GTA fan anyway. I built a new PC recently and I feel like I shouldn't settle for older technology at this point, even though the console version should be fine.

#38 Posted by EXTomar (4629 posts) -

I will be waiting till I hear way more about the game. I don't have the time or energy to play a boring open world game that takes 20 hours of painful missions to complete on any platform.

#39 Posted by Whitestripes09 (400 posts) -

I am for sure getting the console version first. If it ever comes out on PC, then one day when I'm really bored and it's like $20 or less on PC then I will get it.

#41 Edited by Noblenerf (312 posts) -

I voted Other: I can a while, I'll buy it on PC when it's on sale in 2015 or so.

If it is more focused and dedicated in its design than GTA4, it will be a lot of fun. I only hope it's a good port.

#43 Posted by Bussolini (7 posts) -

ama gonna buy on PS3 first because i simply can't wait another minute, and i will most def buy it on PC if/when it comes out next year. i played GTA IV on PC since it came out and it's never boring for me..

#44 Posted by ArtelinaRose (1850 posts) -

Doooon't care.

#45 Posted by Nev (544 posts) -

I'll wait to see how the reviews and talk on the Bombcast are, and then probably buy it on PS3. Grab it in a year or so on PC for cheap when it's on sale.

#46 Posted by CaptainObvious (2996 posts) -

Steam sale.

Ugh. That's all I have to say about these posts.

double dipping. Getting it now for PS3, when the PC version comes out I'm going to wait until it's cheap on a steam sale and get it then.
