It has to be London for the next game, right? It'd be perfect. They can try a different approach as I think they have mastered all that Americana has to offer.

They already done did that:

I'd take a Grand Theft Auto: Japan, 1991.

That'd be the fucking dopest shit in the whole goddamn world.

I'd take a Grand Theft Auto / Yakuza crossover game.

Nah, it has to be the British take on that place and time and society and politics and culture and sense of style. That's what has made the GTA series what it is. It'd be so sick.

GTA is a British look into the world of a version of America.

Yazuka is a Japanese look into the world of a version of Japan.

If there was another game that combined GTA and Yakuza sensibilities, that'd be pretty dope too. But also impossible.

hmmm... Distinct British and Japanese take on a foreign place...

GTA: Yakuza in Mumbai, India

Done.

Let's Kickstart it.

It wouldn't surprise me if the power of the new consoles allowed them to get really ambitious, and they might go back to the San Andreas thing of having three cities. I reckon a Gulf Coast GTA might be cool. So we still have Vice City, but also a New Orleans and a Dallas or a Houston.

I hate to say it, but my FAVORITE idea would be to set a game in Liberty City in 1899. They could do a whole "Gangs of New York" vibe with such a setting yet the setting is understandable. Yes, fewer car in 1899 but there are cars...and cabs...and buses...and trolleies and subways, but wagons, carriages too would be interesting. I think the game would be super fun because city life in 1899 would have been even more wild; yet such a city works like a city today in SO MANY ways.

And, the city life they could reproduce...OMG!

At this point, we've pretty much seen everything 'Murica has to offer. Change to another part of the world.

Edinburgh, that's where Rockstar North is after all. Hopefully they could put a good spin on their own city.

How about they take the multiple character mechanic one step further by having characters in different cities? The camera can still zoom out but even further and travel hundreds or thousands of miles from one character to the next. R* will have much more power available to them and much more space on discs and harddrives to achieve something on a possibly global scale. I would love to just see them take the GTA series outside of America. This could even allow for so much variety from personalities of characters to the cities themselves especially seeing how alive Los Santos feels in GTAV.

I'd like to see a GTA game centered around Las Venturas and the mob's involvement in it. Maybe taking place in the '50s or '60s, when the mob was barely starting to build casinos and really getting an influence in the city. There's a lot of stories to tell there. I'm surprised there hasn't been a GTA like that. Also, no future (really?) or Japan (REALLY?), it just wouldn't work. It wouldn't be GTA.

Japan already has its GTA surrogate in Yakuza. And frankly, Sega's probably in a better position to poke fun at Tokyo city life and Japanese organized crime than some dude in Scotland.

It'll probably be Vice City again, but I'd like to see Las Venturas or San Fierro get the same treatment that Los Santos got in GTA V. Really flesh out those cities. Or try something different and set it in Carcer City. But where ever it is, it has to be US-based. GTA is so centered around parodying American culture, anything else might as well be a different series.

Carcer City? Isn't that basically a shithole near ghost town?

Yeah, pretty much. But they could probably find a way to make it work, maybe take it back in time before it became a complete hellhole.

My vote goes to Melbourne, Australia, I'm totally biased though.

I think it'll probably be Vice City, seeing as how both Librety City and Los Santos have been revisited.

I hope it's something new. They can only go back and forth between Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas so many times before it starts to get old.

I wonder if they keep the multiple character angle, or go single protagonist again. Honestly, I hope they go with the latter... Nothing feels fleshed out in this game; where Nico had 40 hours of characterization, each character in GTAV is given 40 altogether to set everything straight.

And it's REALLY lacking in interesting side characters... The only memorable characters throughout the game are the 3 you play as... Gta4 had Roman, Brucie, Playboy, Dwyane, all of the McReary's, Dimitri, Faustin, Jacob, Vlad, Bernie, Elizabeta... What does GTAV have? I can't even remember most of the side characters because they're so unmemorable... I guess michaels family is pretty good, but that's about it

I know it's just me, but GTAV isn't half the experience 4 is/was. Sure, it's a better designed game, but where's the spirit? I haven't beaten it yet (very close though), but what I've seen so far is disappointment on a magnificent scale..

Maybe the ending of the game will have me feeling differently, but I kind of doubt it...

And I didnt even hype it up all that much

I don't think anywhere other than America would work.

Realistically.. next GTA will be Miami
I would love them to do somewhere else, Belfast/Derry would be fun, or somewhere else in Europe, the Isle of man maybe?

I think you won't be seeing it anytime soon. GTA V feels like Rockstar's way of parting with the series in a way. It's so full of easter eggs and fan service. It makes be think they want to focus on other stuff for a while. Red Dead sequels, new IP, more Noire games. I think it'll be at least 10 years before a new GTA ships.

Hopefully they will go with Vice City, but include the more of the state so it includes a bunch of theme parks, Everglades and swamplands and stuff. How cool with it be to see Rockstar's take on DIsneyworld, Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens etc. More than this tho, I'd like to see them include a South American island, most likely Cuba, and have you be able to travel there, either to smuggle drugs or weapons, or even people. Exploring the jungles would be something we've never done in a GTA game before, and hell, knowing Rockstar, you could even take part in a revolt to overthrow a dictatorship or something crazy like that. I definitely think they should keep the multiple character approach, which was a stroke of genius this time around, and the time is right for one of them to finally be female.

But, lets enjoy how great GTA V is for the time being.

@acquiescealan: I don't see how "the time is right" for a female GTA character. It's not up to us to decide that. It's up to Rockstar. If they're not feeling it when they're writing GTAVI, they're not feeling it. It doesn't make sense to force them to write a female character, because if they had another idea, but replaced that with a female character because they were forced, the quality of the game is gonna be lower, and people are gonna get mad, and who's gonna get blamed? Not the people that forced them into it, that's for sure. Anyway, that's all I'll say about it. I don't want to derail this thread.

In a crossover game with Fast and Furious, where you take the roles of Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnston and Michelle Rodrigueiz...although I have began to wonder if'n Fast and Furious does actually take place in the GTA universe.

Scotland would be pretty ripe for satire. Maybe something akin to the film Filth's interpretation could work.

Vice City, built out in the way V did for Los Santos with a significant chunk of the state to play around in. I want to go down to the GTA rendition of the Everglades and get eaten by an alligator and then go on a rampage in their Disneyworld expy.

Either that or Las Venturas. Then again, I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to see GTA6. I'd rather see what possibilities Red Dead Revengeance has to offer.

I'd like them to revisit Vice City, but I think a lot of my love for that setting was based on the over the top 80's theme. Not sure how it would be any different than Liberty City or San Andreas in a modern time period.
