This would be a fun surprise If I hadn't already bought it. =\

Interesting, although Valve already gave it to me for free :o

Thx for the heads-up. Can't beat the price of FREE. Also - could December please try and stop murdering all my lifetime in one go?

It would be great if Steam worked right now.

Valve fucked themselves. RIP.

I'd love to get a glimpse into Steam's server set up. I like to imagine a giant, endless underground room, like in I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. The fact that they managed to go down is pretty impressive.

RIP in pieces Steam.

...so much lost money right now.

I was about to ask if Steam was having issues for anyone else on the forums here haha. I see.

So I played the Carnival through like 4 sub-chapters before the first party wipe. Awesome, but tiring too. Guess it's a thing best enjoyed in short bursts or while talking with friends. Looking forward to seeing what Left 4 Dead 3 will bring to the table.

@seppli: L4D needs to be played with friends. Playing PUGs is a nightmare because the second they start losing they just rage quit. I was able to build a stable of like 10-12 people a long time ago that would be down to play every night and we played that game for 6+ hours a night for months and was easily one of the best times I ever had with a game. Maybe now that it's free someone in the GB community can get a L4D night going or something and people can meet up to play. A group of regulars makes that game so much fun.

Steam killed their own sale, gg.

Nice, i've played a fuck ton of the Xbox version but never got it since i got no one to play with on steam.

I sorta wouldn't have expected this to bring down Steam. Were a buncha people making new accounts to try to get free L4D2? I just would've assumed that a lot of people would already own a popular 4-year-old game.

By the way there's an awesome Solid Snake skin file to play with

but my personal favorite way to play RAPTORS!!!!

I was rather upset with how quickly Left 4 Dead 2 was churned out. Now I think I can finally forgive them.

Kudos, Valve.

Does anyone happen to know if the Left 4 Dead 1 survivors were patched into Left 4 Dead 2? I recall hearing something like that a long time ago.

I believe it's a DLC map for L4D 2.

Thanks for the tip.

I already played 100s of hours of Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and the DLC on the 360. Maybe I should activate it on the pc just for fun. I'd use a controller to play it though.

Cool, thanks.

it says i have the low violence version? is that because i have the weird australian edit of the game? i don't know! i think i own the xbox version and have never played it anyway. it can just be another thing to fill up my steam library with.

Said the same thing for me too. I'm thinking that because it's free, they're giving away the low violence version because any kid could just come on and download it. But then again they're downloading a game about zombies and dead people and murder and death so it's kind of pointless.

Finally, they did what they should have done 4 years ago. Mods SHOULD be free.

I grabbed this. I love L4D2, it was my personal GOTY the year it came out. I have it on 360 though. Might as well have it on PC too. Does it run on Ultrabooks? Seeing how it's a 3 year old game and this is a 1 year old ultrabook that I maxed out I'm going to say... yes? Well whatever, I got it to get it. I also got Gunpoint and Papers, Please while I was buying. Well, technically I had a friend gift me Gunpoint. I gifted him Rogue Legacy back. Yay Christmas!

I've had this game for years and never gotten much opportunity to play it. Maybe this will remedy that.
