I know some people were OK with the ending to ME3 and others were either somewhat indifferent or amused. Its something I still talk about with my friends quite a lot and something that I don't know that I will ever really not find disappointing.

What is the one thing you can think of that would let you get past that ending?

I would like to see them explore some of the other individuals stories, especially Garrus and Rex.

How about you guys?

I think we've talked about it enough.

This is like asking "What can you do to make the ending of Twilight better?" We've rehashed this a lot already. For me I don't think "badly written endings" warent changes and should stand as they are.

Get rid of the Extended Cut.

Duder, it's over.

Time for something new please.

I don't care about the ending because I had already lost interest in the series after playing 2. There's nothing redeeming in the game mechanics for me to even give a morsel of a shit about the ending. Fuck that series and fuck Dragon Age.

LITERALLY NO ONE CARES ABOUT IT ANYMORE. IT IS OLD HAT.

Forgettable, ending is forgettable.

Thankfully the Marauder Shields comics by koobismo fill the void and then some.

It's a thing. You don't forgive a thing. And you don't not forgive a thing. It's a thing.

#11 Posted by gogosox82 (424 posts) -

I wish they wouldn't have changed anything and kept it the way it was.Sort of like a historical record of how bad it was when it first came out.

#12 Posted by Mr_Skeleton (5144 posts) -

Get fucking over it. Like it or not the ending is what it is, and it's been a fucking year since the game came out so just let it go.

#13 Posted by Klei (1768 posts) -

I don't care enough about Mass Effect to be batshit about it's ending. I played the trilogy, beat it... and moved on. I never even noticed that the ending was bad.

By getting over it an realizing that your life goes on, with or without Mass Effect 3. I can't believe people are still talking about this, it's been a year!

#18 Posted by Soapy86 (2620 posts) -

There's nothing they can do. They fucked it up about as bad as anyone could. No amount of DLC will ever fix it. That is their legacy. The end. It's time to move on.

#19 Posted by joshthebear (2700 posts) -

Let's just stop talking about Mass Effect 3, please.

It'll be a YEAR ago tomorrow this game came out. Can we...please...stop? Please?

  • Finish Assassin's Creed 3.
  • Every video game ever made now has a great ending by comparison.
  • ?????
  • Profit !

Year anniversary so lets talk about, its mediocre, they fucked up and they probably know it. There can be no future Mass Effect games because of their decision to make the future of the universe completely different (from where it started and from where it can end up depending on choices) and by making it so vague

#24 Posted by Akyho (1637 posts) -

I wont.....and not going to do....

#25 Posted by Bishna (334 posts) -

I just want them to make the next Mass Effect game take place after 3. If they make a prequel, I probably won't buy it at launch. I didn't like the ending, but I liked the way it left the universe, at least in my head.

Mass Effect 4 begins right before you beam up and meet the illusive man at the end of ME3, and basically "retcons" the entire fucking ending. If that doesn't happen--and it won't happen--the series is dead to me.

I already forgave it when it became hilarious.

That starchild bit? I laughed for a good 3 minutes

#28 Posted by Oscar__Explosion (2294 posts) -

I just don't and never had cared about the ending. Good or bad the ride there was still fun. NOW STOP TALKING ABOUT IT ALREADY.

oh if only this was true.

but yea im done with that series as well.

Every day I drive by the BioWare offices I'm tempted to spit out the window at their door step. Nothing could make me forgive the ending!! ARGH!

I was there. Time passed. I learned to get past it. So can we please just stop talking about the ending now? The last SP DLC just came out and it'd be nice to enjoy it (as it is pretty awesome for the most part) without dragging up the ending yet again!

#33 Posted by Svenzon (720 posts) -

There are way more important things to worry about in life than a video game ending. God, why am I even posting this? ARGH!

Actually yes, I found the Assassin's Creed 3 ending to be far worse than ME3. The writing was just... plain bad.

It's kind of funny how the AC3 ending is bad in a lot of the very same specific ways that the ME3 ending was. It's hard me to say which is worse, the ME3 ending definitely stung more for me, but only because I was invested in Mass Effect far more than Assassin's Creed.

#36 Posted by Nux (2357 posts) -

I stopped cairing.

#37 Posted by jdh5153 (1034 posts) -

I didn't need to get past the ending. I thought it was perfect.

#39 Edited by ShaggE (6452 posts) -

"What is the one thing you can think of that would let you get past that ending?"

Having a life.

Having a modicum of perspective.

Knowing when to let things go.

Having literally anything else to do.

Owning more than one game.

(I know this is more than "one thing", but I could easily go on for hours)

#40 Edited by Wrighteous86 (3782 posts) -

I waited until the game was complete before playing it... which means now, a year later, I can finally start Mass Effect 3. This is what your mid-game mission DLC has done to me Bioware! You have no one to blame but yourself!

#41 Posted by Rotten_Avocado (83 posts) -

I think we can all get over the ME3 ending by GROWING THE FUCK UP!!!

#42 Posted by Herk (192 posts) -

I've come to really liking it now since the Citadel DLC. It didn't change the ending in any way but it was so sad to see Shep's closest friends talk about having another party after the war with me watching, knowing that he would die...

Video game stories have come to the level of acceptable movies

I already got past it. Easily. I was fine with it before, and after the Extended Cut(plus Leviathan and Citadel), I really enjoy the ending. So yeah, no longer an issue.

#46 Posted by Nictel (2412 posts) -

I never got upset about it. Also how could you forgive the Alamo?

#47 Posted by tourgen (4495 posts) -

Mass effect is over. Who really still cares?

Now it's time for Cyberpunk and Witcher HYPE!! Choices and branching stories - the RPG crown resides at CDProjekt HQ now.

#48 Posted by phantomzxro (1577 posts) -

I don't think there really is a way, nothing short of changing it completely which they wont do is the only way to fix it in my mind. I just think its something you live with and move on. That last DLC they are releasing seems to be a good swan song to mass effect 3 so maybe play that.

Assassin creed 3 was a more disappointing game overall but the ending was not as bad as mass effect 3 in my eyes. I saw assassin creed 3 ending coming like you would a car wreck when you hear screeching tires. The story toward the end just felt rushed and messy. what hurt mass effect 3 more is it was doing an ok job up to the end.

#49 Posted by Pr1mus (3905 posts) -

I didn't, I still wake up at night to hate the ending.

#50 Posted by believer258 (11898 posts) -

I made a sandwich.

No, really, I finished the game and went to make a sandwich. Bad and unsatisfying ending? Yeah, but it's not going to ruin my life.
