Sorry. Konami has finally fucking done it.

This trailer made me realise that MGS had never used CG cutscenes in any of their games before. Seeing Snake, The Boss and Cobra Unit rendered in CG is real weird. Also, did they reuse Sutherland's Big Boss for the render?

Man, I kind've don't want to see them in CG, as you said that's real weird.

It hurts to see one of the best moments in gaming be turned into a damn gambling machine too...

Still not as bad as the Silent Hill 2 pachinko machine. Though for what little it's worth CG The Boss looks pretty fackin' awesome. Always wished we could have gotten a prequel (to a prequel...) following The Boss.

@yummylee: I.. kind of enjoyed the abstract madness of that Silent Hill machine. I wish the MGS one was that crazy. I mean if you're going to butcher a franchise dont be subtle about it.

This has to be more than just a pachinko machine right? Like they release another HD collection for current gen on top of this right? No way this is ONLY a pachinko machine... I need to believe.

Now that Steam sale makes perfect sense.

They were buttering people up for the real deal: a pachinko machine.

This was Kojima's vision all along.

Seriously though, I guess MGS is truly dead now. Least we got a good run out of it.

Man, looking at that CG, more than anything else, I'm just depressed knowing we'll never get a proper version of MGS3 that looks that good. Or any actual MGS game, for that matter.

Would it be better if it was a trailer for flipping some sticks on a gamepad? ;)

I'm a little shocked that people still hold out hope for an actual game either made or contracted from Konami. It is never going to happens, nobody is ever going to make a full size Metal Gear game with Snake in it until Konami either sells of ist IP or is dismantled because of some sort of shady legal action.

Watching videos of Metal Gear products being shown off now is about as interesting as watching chain made in a factory - a soulless endeavor.

But my point works even better that way. ;-) That CG might me mesmerizing, but it is essentially non-substantive. But, I agree its is mesmerizing like all industrial process.

How is pachinko legislation going in Japan? I heard some companies were getting out because the government was cracking down on that stuff.

Did anybody really think Konami was going to make another MGS game? Get real.

Also I'd much rather Konami just made pachinko machines, than deal with the possibility of them making an actual Metal Gear game and what the fuck that would even be.

I give my franchise

Not for honor, but for you (Pachinko)

In my time there'll be no sequels

Crime, what Konami did to Snake (Pachinko)

Rebuilt MGS3... for Pachinko...

Edit: Drew and Dan clearly need to get one of these machines for Metal Gear Scanlon, right?

So they made this high quality trailer for this thing, but how much of that translates to the pachinko machine? Like i always imagined Pachinko is a bit like Plinko or something. Do you get a ball in a hole to make a cutscene play out or something? Or is it just going to be a cabinet with a background image of The Boss and Snake in a flowerfield, and a ball-game with sound effects and blinking lights on top of it?

And do pachinko customers actually roam the internet looking for trailers of pachinko machines or is it more like 'oh i found myself in front of this weird cold war cabinet, i don't care, let's pachinko.'

Did they redo the cutscenes from MGS3 for this? Cause it sure likes they did and that just makes very angry, annoyed, etc.

This trailer made me realise that MGS had never used CG cutscenes in any of their games before. Seeing Snake, The Boss and Cobra Unit rendered in CG is real weird.

They used CG at least in the MGS4. Basically parts that look like in-game but you don't have the camera control like you would normally have. Big canal shoot out is one of the clearest examples because the video artifacts are visible on the darker colors.

That said, HD-versions should have looked like this.
