Actor Angus T. Jones, star of CBS's raunchy television comedy "Two and a Half Men", has urged viewers to change the channel, saying his new-found religious beliefs are at odds with his job playing a fun-loving teen on the popular show.

Jones, 19, who has played Jake Harper - the son of Jon Cryer's character Alan - for nine years, appealed to fans to stop watching the show "and filling your head with filth."

In a YouTube video made for the California-based Forerunner Christian Church, Jones said his recent Bible studies made him uncomfortable with the risqué humour that marks one of the most-watched comedies on U.S. television.

I'm simply against awful television shows.

#3 Posted by Ben_H (3296 posts) -

Oh man I read about this yesterday, that kid is completely nuts now. I mean, yes the show is awful, but he hopped the train to Crazytown and yelled "FULL STEAM AHEAD".

What a little bitch.

#5 Edited by Sooty (8082 posts) -

Christian die hards are funny and kind of nauseating.

and yeah that show is garbage.

#6 Posted by Gonmog (580 posts) -

Yeah seen this on IGN yesterday, good for him.

You may not respect or believe in what he does, but you have the give the man props for speaking out like that.

And before people come out and say he can leave of his own free will. We have no idea what his contract says. It could say something along the lines of he can not work for 5 years, seen odder things in contracts that are ended before there time is up.

lol

#8 Posted by NegativeCero (2973 posts) -

So the next story is going to be him being dropped from the show right? Don't bite the hand that feeds.

#9 Posted by Sarge506 (87 posts) -

Awww look at his sad little face.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

#10 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4674 posts) -

Is he going to try and quit the show now. I would assume he is under contract to continue it. Can't be good moral on set to know that one of the main actors is against the very nature of the show.

#11 Edited by huntad (1930 posts) -

Good for him. If he doesn't like what he's doing, and he has the guts to speak out against it, I applaud him. Anyone who says otherwise is an ass.

Two and a Half Men is filth, but so are a lot of shows.

#12 Posted by frankfartmouth (1016 posts) -

All he has to look forward to is a future of narrating cheesy Christian documentaries with Kirk Cameron. Cut him some slack.

#13 Posted by CaLe (3897 posts) -

I really don't know why this show is so popular. I honestly, truly, just do not know. I don't think I've even laughed once when having to watch it because of other people I live with. Friends is a good TV show. Why can't more TV shows be like Friends.

You don't have to be a fanatic to recognize that Two and a Half Men is shit.

#15 Posted by Video_Game_King (35835 posts) -

Of course they are. After knowing that this show exists, would you believe in a just and loving God?

#16 Posted by AlexanderSheen (4904 posts) -

At least he realized that the show sucks balls real hard.

#17 Posted by Icemael (6307 posts) -

There are plenty of good reasons not to watch Two and a Half Men. This is not one of them.

#18 Posted by Sackmanjones (4650 posts) -

Yup. That show is garbage

Indeed, that show is garbage, and not because it's "risqué."
#21 Posted by AngelN7 (2970 posts) -

Eh I'm sure a big suit is saying : "We can replace the kid too he's not cute anymore and there's so many pot smoking jokes we can make with him"

#22 Posted by Brodehouse (9521 posts) -

Wait so he worships the Forerunners?

Bwa ha ha! Well. Played.

Considering that the actor is 19, he's in that right age to be properly brainwashed by anything or any girl for that matter. So why pay any attention to him or what he says that's not on the script? Sounds just as crazy as most of the other actors in hollywood.

Yes.

My theory is that being on such an awful show must make people go crazy. Charlie Sheen, this future former child star -- where does the madness end?

#28 Posted by johncallahan (542 posts) -

He's just using it as an excuse to leave that godawful show.

#29 Posted by Shadowjester (93 posts) -

I am a Christian. I don't watch the show but I've seen some of the early episodes. Risque is one word for that show I guess. Good on him though. I hope he stays strong. He's going to be the butt of a lot of jokes from here on out. However I am looking forward to him and Kirk Cameron working together. The church that made the movies Fireproof and Courageous could use another full time actor to use in their movies.

#30 Posted by uniform (1832 posts) -

I'm always surprised when reminded of that show's popularity, even though I shouldn't be. Could someone tell me what's been its competition all these years?

#31 Posted by Bell_End (1208 posts) -

wonder if he will leave and star in a new show called Two and a half jesuses

with the Father, the son and the holy ghost...

just imagine the hijinks

#32 Edited by crow13 (132 posts) -

It sounds like he just wants off the show and is using his new found religious beliefs to justify his reason. He probably thinks if they fire him and void his contract he can sue for religious persecution. The show hasn't been funny for a looooooooong time so I understand why you would want to quit, but at the same time, if you signed a contract just finish it and move on. Or if it has become truly immoral for you to stay on the show than break your contract, pay whatever fee comes along with that and show everyone that you are REALLY standing up for what you believe in and not just bad mouthing all the writers, directors, actors, and fellow co-workers that pretty much made you a child actor and all that money you've earned anyway.... unless of course you are overcome by greed which also goes against Christian beliefs right? I wish everyone would take a lesson from this, don't tell other people how to live their life no matter what you believe. Make your own choices and let others make their's and if they offend you than don't participate. DUH!

How can you expect to be taken seriously when you call an inconsequential piece of fluff television the "Enemy"

#34 Posted by ripelivejam (3470 posts) -

was hoping today's youth weren't being brainwashed/indoctrinated like they were in decades past, could at least make up their own minds about things. i would probably say he had no choice in the matter, but then again he may just be an idiot. prefer personally to blame the religion, not the religious.

i'd like to see some way to limit exposure to religion for children under 18 but that would be a bit draconian to say the least...

funny how i can not be exposed at all to things so hugely popular.

#35 Posted by TeflonBilly (4713 posts) -

Looks like Charlie Sheen didn't take all the crazy with him when he left.

No and no.

From the last I saw of the show, Jon Cryer's sanity had already well evacuated the building at that. I'm just waiting on the news story for when he goes on a killing spree.

#38 Posted by jozzy (2041 posts) -

For the people that think that speaking out like this is a good thing and should be applauded, you seem to have some growing up to do. If you don't like your job or what it stands for, you talk to your boss and quit, you don't cry about it in an interview like an immature spoiled brat. Now, he is only 19 so it's completely normal to behave like a little bitch that thinks he knows how the world works.

Also, let me go against the grain here and admit that I think the show is quite entertaining, I stopped watching when Charlie left but before that I thought it was pretty funny. It's not refined or complex, just simple sitcom humor.

#39 Posted by Chop (1992 posts) -

Well, I mean, if he were truly and fully committed to his beliefs, he would walk off the show. Contract or no, crazy stipulations or not, he would walk right the hell out. How can he expect people to make sacrifices for his beliefs when he won't do the same thing?

I assume he's just being manipulated by Kirk Cameron.

That sounds like the most likely senario. One goes towards drugs and hookers, one finds Jesus, and the third... cannibalism?

#41 Posted by Vigorousjammer (2472 posts) -

The show was alright before Charlie Sheen left.

Now it's just horrible, though.

Dont get me wrong, I mean no offence ... but please please tell me you dont take Kirk Cameron seriously?

#43 Posted by zenmastah (871 posts) -

read somewhere that hes making 350K per episode, i mean ive always know that Christians are the biggest hypocrists but damn.

#44 Posted by Scooper (7882 posts) -

He's merely trying to save your souls from damnation. He's one of God's children now, peace be upon him.

#45 Posted by Shadowjester (93 posts) -

@2HeadedNinja: I am not up to date on everything Kirk Cameron says or does so I am not exactly sure which part you refer to but for the most part I think his and my beliefs are the same. If you want more specifics please feel free to PM me.

#46 Posted by JOURN3Y (230 posts) -

I don't watch much television but I know that show isn't very funny to me. Good for him to tell people to stop watching it. But if he thinks that show is risque then he clearly hasn't been living the life of a child star.

#47 Posted by Neurotic (631 posts) -

So, I can only conclude that being on Two and a Half Men makes you crazy. First Charlie Sheen and now this guy.

Eh, whatever. It's junk, but a lot of television is.
