4chan, why do we hate them? - Off-Topic

So, I tend to go on 4chan a bit and it does not seem that bad.

As an anime and video game fan I find it to be actually decent there, while it is not no where as good as Giant Bomb why does it get so much hate?

A few years ago I went to 4chan for the first time to see what it was about. The first thing I saw was a large picture of a penis. That was all I needed to know about 4chan.

Okay so it sounds like I like the place, I want to make it clear that it is not that great but I wanted to know why people hate it so much.

It is just when people say 4chan is terrible I tend to think of /v/ and the others since to me that what 4chan is. ^__^.

/b/ forum isn't even that bad for the most part. The people in there do not want to see CP and this material is deleted almost immediately.

Of course there will be some disturbing content, but for the most part /b/ is where meme's originate and it has a lot of hilarious things on there. Sometimes I browse it and it's pretty funny. Just skip the threads you don't want to see more of, and visit the ones you do - there is definitely some random and dark humour in there.

I must admit they are pretty funny trolls.

But they are also fucking annoying and mostly disgusting.

I'm proud to say that I've never, ever visited 4chan. Thusly I can't really comment on the content or the users over there, but from what I've gathered it just seems like a forum filled with 12-14 year old hyperactive and lonely teenagers craving for attention in any form.

I don't think there is inherently anything wrong with it - it appears to be totally unmoderated and when usually when communities get that large and are allowed to do whatever they like it is usually the dicks you encounter most promenantly. It is a bit like usenet was before forums came along.

because it's full of people who have just given up on life, it glorifies all the worst things about humanity. How can you not recognise that? Even the people on there know why most people are disgusted by it.

@LtColJaxson: It's not even the gore, CP and other such threads that are what make /b/ utter shit. It's the "LAFF U LOOSE" "LOL IM SO RANDUM XDDD" "NEED /b/LACK UP FOR THIS FACE BOOK" "DOUBLES GET" "LOL RATE ME :3" etc.

The board's fucking horrible and couldn't possibly be less funny 99% of the time, that is of course unless you have the humour of someone who's in their early teens. There's numerous great boards on the site, /b/ is not one of them.

Nah you are definitely just looking on the surface of /b/ and haven't been on there many times. It's not like that at all...

Since there are so many pages which constantly update (you can just refresh the first page and it will be different each time), there is bound to be something you'd laugh at. Even if it's someone's own stupidity it can be hilarious at times. There is definitely a lot of dark humour on there, but many demotivational posters that become popular came from /b/.

I don't have humour that is of someone who is in their early teens, you are just being accusatory and like to make up statistics that represent little to nothing.

So I guess that mean's GB is horrible too (because obviously you can't just ignore shite threads on GB and go on to the good ones).

Depending on what board you go to, 4chan is fine. /b/ is the only really bad thing about it. The reason people don't like 4chan is probably mostly due to prejudice, such as "lol 4chan is evil". Science and Math board has some interesting topics sometimes.

Evidently no. I go on /b/ often regardless of what you think and it really isn't like what you say. Since most of the people in this thread don't visit /b/ often then they don't really know either.

If you just occasionally go on there it can be filled with spam, but going into the threads is where you find humour. You obviously just do not like the type of humour that is presented and that is fine. But I do not visit the threads you mentioned when they are on /b/ and I still find it funny.

/b/ is one of the worst places to be at in mankind. That's why I'm no fan of 4chan and won't ever be a member of that site.
