A Question About Itagaki?

I don't know if this is just a joke or what, but I have heard it twice and my google searches bring up nothing. Does Itagaki actually carry around a whip? I first heard it in a video by the Super Best Friends and just thought they were joking, but then today while listening to the Bombcast they mentioned it.

Are you confusing Tomonobu Itagaki (Dead or Alive) with Koji Igarashi (Castlevania)?
