This is not to bash someones favorite site and I really do not want you to flame other people over this. I am just saying that occasionally you will stumble across a site that at first you might enjoy and then end up hating.

For me this would be G4. When they first came out they were the best (in my eyes) in the industry. Since then they have gone down so hardcore it is not even funny. I wish them the best as they get into their casket. RIP G4

What is yours? (No N4G, Gamerevolution or that crap)

IGN. Even when I 'liked' the place it was pretty much all because of Scott Sharkey, and now it's just...

This one.

Nah I love you Giantbomb, in all seriousness though Gamespot, ugh I hate their layout. Hey, all of these websites may be bad but why not check out an amateur site getting it's bearings?

IGN is just a parody of itself.

The Halo 4 review is the most ridiculous thing I have read in at least 2 weeks.

@Deusx: If anyone ever asks why the escapist is an annoying website, you simply need to point them to the Escapist Forums episode of the F Plus podcast. It perfectly encapsulates what is wrong with that website.

Polygon.com

Actually, they're just unproven. I would say IGN, which hasn't been good since Hillary Goldstein left.

Also, side-note: for some reason, I dislike the Penny Arcade Report suddenly doing reviews. It makes some sense, but it almost feels disingenuous, as if they not being a purely news/editorial site is a bad thing. I love the PAR, though, so that's just a little quibble.

Giant Bomb. I refuse to endorse as a site that employs children.

No Caption Provided

And use them to indulge odd sexual fetishes.

But for realsies, I don't like Gamespot or IGN.

I was going to say none of them, but then someone mentioned The Escapist and I remembered I really cant stand that site anymore. It's become incredibly over run with ads and I almost never go there anymore.
The content there was always lackluster and kind of hinged on it's shows (headlined by Yahtzee of course).
I liked a few shows back when it was new (unforgotten realms was pretty good, that one weird one about video game characters breaking into the real world and causing chaos which I forget the name of was alright, and that one girl who sang songs about games was alright- that's about all I liked. Oh and Yahtzee was alright for a little but the shtick is old and there's not much else he can do with it for me, I don't have a problem with him though.)

Ya, that's my answer. The Escapist.

I don't really hate any of them 'cause on each of them I kind find something I appreciate, it's more like I just don't go to all of the places I know about that I could be going to. If you asked me which one I find the most annoying... I'd probably say IGN for the most part, but I wouldn't really say I can't stand them, or that I hate them, or that I even dislike them.

GameSpot. I cannot stand that site anymore. Was a member there since 2003 (banned once for accidentally hot linking an image that then swapped to porn. Wasn't intentional) and remember when Kevin V was just a mod as fiddlecub. After the whole Jeff issue, I just can't bring myself to enjoy them anymore. I tried once again when CBS bought GB and they made up, but I really hate their reviewers/personalities. Tom McShea is a pompous retard who thinks he knows everything. Carolyn is just boring. I remember watching some live stream of him/her and Kevin playing Metal Gear and I was bored out of my mind. It was like history was being taught by Ben Stein. I also can't stand looking at Shaun McInnis; it always looks like he is wearing makeup.

They need to actually have some real personalities that are fun. The only people on there that I enjoy seem to be their UK team.

There are some writers and people at IGN I truly like. They are some of my favorite people in the game scene, but IGN's constant lists and rumor articles bug me. Polygon is looking really interesting so far, and I like Arthur Gies.

I'm uncomfortable with this thread.

I'm unsure if it's because it makes Giant Bomb users seem conceited or because it's simply in bad taste.

I don't have a problem with other gaming websites since I really don't visit them often. I will admit that I find Jim Sterling to be a complete joke but I'm not sure what the rest of the Destructoid crew are like.

I don't get the Kotaku hate. There are weird or shit articles here and there, but generally it's pretty informative. I sometimes even think their community is much more tolerant and nicer than the GB one. Yes, I said it. Some Giantbombers can be total jerks.

If I don't like a website I just won't go to it so I'll never have the opportunity to hate a website because I won't be there long enough to develop that hate. I don't have the time to spend hating something.

Agree completely about IGN, right down to the Hilary comment. Right about then there was a mass exodus of almost every writer I liked. (Erik Brudvig, David Clayman, Ryan Geddes)

No idea why everyone hates kotaku so much. I go there right before I go to Giantbomb because they usually have all the newest game related news while other sites only have 1 or 2 a day. Sure they have stupid shit up too, but its not hard to just ignore that stuff. I'm also not bombarded with ads that I have to click "continue >" to get past.

Totally, they were all great. Perhaps as funny as the Bombcast in places. A sad time when they all left for better things.

I think that it's ridiculous to say you hate a gaming website. It's a website about video games. Unless they do something openly wrong, like IGN announces that they make all of their employees kill somebody before being hired, then I don't see why you need a reason to tell people on a forum that you hate what (insert journalist or website here) does.

But that's my opinion.

VGchartz http://www.vgchartz.com/

They never have accurate data at all. The members like to look at the numbers and comment about how they hate the game and they're glad it's getting bad numbers or they love the game and they're glad despite that or they love that it got such great numbers etc.etc.etc.etc.

Meanwhile the site provides no useful metrics to determine sales really. It's pretty useless and makes me angry that it can't at least try to be clear about how limited its ability to tally sales numbers really is.

I used to visit IGN quite often but now all the "articles" just turn me off, maybe it has to do with all the editors i liked leaving (besides the PS team) but now it feels like they dont publish any substantial content. Still like some of their podcast though.

One doesn't always need to share one's opinions. When one does, one should do it with class.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYLbrZAko7E

Sometimes I don't feel like being classy. Sometimes I like to walk around in a worn down house-coat, drink milk from the carton, and say whats on my mind with a slur. In this case, I hate a website. Deal with it

I have two answers to this question.

The easy answer to this question is Kotaku- given how they are essentially the tabloid of gaming media. But their low quality doesn't have a huge impact on the whole industry though.

As such, my actual answer for this question is Metacritic. For obvious reasons- they are a driving manipulative force behind the industry's regrettable infatuation with and usage of scores.

The day Metacritic dies is a good day for the whole industry.

Some hate Kotaku for its extensive collection of non-gaming articles, others hate them for their generally sensationalist and often low-quality articles.

I dislike them for the latter- and personally feel they aren't a reliable source of information. But that's just me. :)
