So they started this Kickstarter-like thing to raise enough money for an advertising campaign FOR Adblock. First of all the irony there is ridiculous, they are of course self aware but still.... Anyway my real gripe with this is that they want to get more people using Adblock with the goal being "an ad-free internet". In the words of Peter Griffin, that really grinds my gears. They have this 2 minute video of them talking about Adblock with this huge shit-eating grin on their faces and puppy dogs and everything. Do they not know how the internet functions as a monetary solution? How do they expect websites to survive without ANY ads? Ads before videos can be annoying but they're a part of life now, banner ads on the other hand, who is bothered by those? So there's a section of a webpage telling you to join this bank or shop here for a discount or whatever but is that really a problem for people, is it something that needs to be a goal in the "next step towards a better internet"? Its so dumb and it makes me so mad. Do they think that their favorite journalists do their jobs for shits and giggles? That the people they subscribe to on Youtube work full time jobs while posting high quality video content multiple times a week? How is that they think these things are possible? Do they not care? Thoughts?
