African-American Rockstars?

Half of Trash Talk are African American. 
 
  

I don't know if they count, but their body of work is huge so i'd recommend parliament funkadelic

I'm quite partial to a bit of Skindred, they're a little bit like Deftones if Chino was a fat black welsh Rasta :-)

Surprised not a mention of Sevendust. I think they've gotten better over the years as well.

Yeah, Chuck Berry, one of the pioneers of rock and roll. I dunno much about Prince but he also does Rock.

 Jimi Hendrix is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
I hate that phrase, "African American".  
I mean it's the same thing as saying "Caucasian rock star".

What? black musicians are known to be skilled at instruments and very innovative with their music composing, there's so much soul in african american music. and they're the best at creating buzz or sounding groovyDo you enjoy being a typical tool who thinks every statement of that sort is hateful/racist or an ignorant generalization ?   Then why are 90% of blues/jazz/soul musicians black? is that a coincidence?

The black man has soul and groove, he has the music and the voice.

But the white devil wants to keep him down. Nothing worse to the white devil than a black man with a voice speaking out. They want to package the black man in boxes which they can control. Even hip-hop is an almost wholly controlled industry these days. There ain't no rebellion left in hip-hop, that side of hip-hop scares the man, so they shut it off, don't give it air time or exposure.

Those just some of the less obvious ones I could think of off the top of my head.

You know what term I kinda hate?  Rockstar.  
 
But, I do know some black dudes and chicks that are in rock bands.

Also, "wut" at black people are on a higher level in terms of groove and technique. I don't find the statement offensive, just amusingly foolish. 

would the roots count?  i mean the guitarist is pretty good.  at Captain Kirk's guitar solo at 8 minutes it looks like hes having an orgasm half way through it.
