So Jamie just called me from just outside the eBGames here in town. She went to pick up my Collector`s Edition of Assassin`s Creed 2 and her copy of Left4Dead2. While she was in there a strange force came over her to grab a WiiFit Plus, and a copy of the New Super Mario Brothers Wii.
Well she did just that, and she walked out with her 150 dollar bill....
What`s that you say....150 dollars...but...
Yes! Thats right...The clerk in eBGames decided to just give her a copy of Wii Fit Plus (110 bucks CDN) and a copy of New Mario Brothers Wii (60 CDN) for FREE! He completely forget to scan it.
BONUS!

You realize that its still consider stealing? Knowingly taking merchandise without the act of a monetary transaction even through the mistake of the clerk is still theft. Knowingly is the key word. It doesn't matter if the clerk made a mistake, your friend used that occasion to commit theft. Even if the clerk knowingly gave her the stuff, he is still guilty of theft and your friend is guilty of knowingly recieveing stolen goods. Its no different than putting a CD in your coat when no one is looking. I'd not go around bragging about this on the internet, cause stealings bad um kay.
Apparently NSMB Wii is so terrible Nintendo felt they had to give it out for free.
*Waits for Nintendo fanboys to flame my inbox*.
" @super_machine: So any time people give out stuff for free and free samples, thats stealing? No, this was just a great deal, thats all. "And you can thank him next time you go to an EB(or any retailer) and have to pay more for a game than its actually worth. You see, the stores aren't the ones who pay for theft (and yes, this is theft just like any other, she shoplifted) customers pay for it in increased prices to cover the losses. I worked in retail for a long time, this type of thing is calculated into the margins when you set pricing. :)

Since when do they make a $150 dollar bill? Sounds like in addition to being a thief, she's a counterfeiter.

That's what I was thinking. This story is obviously fake. lol
You realize this all comes down to the same thing as stealing, right? It's not funny, if you ask me. It's dishonest. You realize this man could lose his job for this, right? If I were you, I would go do the right thing and return it. It's just dishonest. While it may be to your benefit, it's still not free.
I really hope you do return it, or the police put your ass in jail for it. No offense, but that's a crime.

" @Renahzor: I dont know what stores you go to but MSRP is most I would pay and even then, look for deals on games. For a place like EB games, where there is no merchandise actually on the floor except small accessories or old games, then you dont thank this guy, you thank the retards behind the counter. "Alright man, whatever you say! I mean, obviously there's no possible way retailers everywhere have found a way to cut their losses via theft by increasing prices, and of course theres no way that large retailers have a say in what MSRP price shows.
A little insight maybe. At inventory time, a company sees what it's bought, sold, and has on inventory. The discrepancy between inventory/sales and purchases is your theft amount. Whatever % that is, you find where to increase pricing to maintain (or increase) your margin. A company will not simply write off theft as an acceptable loss, although many have a threshold of theft below which they are still operating on the correct margin(because they are charging a certain % over what they need to remain profitable). It doesn't really matter to me, but go ahead and keep on defending shop lifting because the clerk was clueless, its cute.
" @TheHBK said:In this situation, I doubt the store would raise its price due to a theft percentage. If they did, they'd risk losing business, as there are countless other video game stores that would then sell you the game for a cheaper price." @Renahzor: I dont know what stores you go to but MSRP is most I would pay and even then, look for deals on games. " Didn't this happen to somebody else on the forums? "Yeah this had already happened, what the hell.
Yup, you're right, So long as only a couple people do it its all good! Might as well go out and grab some for yourself.
In the retail chain I worked for, a 1% theft increase prompted a mild increase of about 3% on "high volume" items, to offset the difference, you can extrapolate what happens over the course of years. Im not saying next week they'll be selling NSMBW for $5 over MSRP, but if you think that somehow this stuff just goes unpaid for you're pretty naive.

I've asked Jamie if she'd like her tits shown to the GB Community. She respectfully denied. She did show them to me though! She is indeed real, if you read my blog you'll see.
Also, for the non-believers, I'll post pics of Jamie + Receipt + Games just for you tomorrow.
I shall also try and craft a 150 dollar bill in the meantime.
Well at least she was respectful about it." I've asked Jamie if she'd like her tits shown to the GB Community. She respectfully denied."
Why? Do you really care that much if people believe you? Also, for the non-believers, I'll post pics of Jamie + Receipt + Games just for you tomorrow.
" @super_machine: So any time people give out stuff for free and free samples, thats stealing? No, this was just a great deal, thats all. "Its not the same. TC said the clerk forgot to scan it, and his friend took advantage of his mistake. That would still be considered teft. And if the clerk gave away that stuff, it was without official authorization which means that is still stolen merchandise.
