@No0b0rAmA: @FluxWaveZ: Our old thread apparently got deleted due to a bug in the system!

GBAD!!!

and we're back.

Funny how only the Anime thread got swiped. It's a conspiracy.

#7 Posted by EquitasInvictus (1868 posts) -

What'd I miss in the other thread before the bug happened?

Anyway, I'm glad we made it through an entire thread without getting trolled or derailed to a lock!

Not at all. It saw that another Sonic account was on the horizon, so it sacrificed itself to destroy them once and for all. THAT THREAD IS A HERO!

Let's not or we will actually get locked!

Anime-talk: Really excited about tomorrow, both Tsuritama and Kids on the Slope ending!

#12 Posted by No0b0rAmA (1490 posts) -

@Cloudenvy: How is Tsuritama, all I know is that Gin-san is in it, and that makes it sound really good.

#13 Posted by Bocam (3551 posts) -

We should also make this the Manga discussion thread as well.

So Medaka Box is pretty good, eh?

#14 Edited by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@No0b0rAmA: I really like Tsuritama, like..A lot. It's really quirky and kind of has a lot of info about real fishing, but there's also some decent character development and an over-the-top, silly plot!

It's definitely not for everyone, but I can't help but love it due to how quirky it is.

Also; I love the art.
#15 Posted by No0b0rAmA (1490 posts) -

@Bocam: Man, I was like 100 chapters into Medaka Box when it turned super weird and I got completely confused. Is there a plot again?

#16 Edited by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@Bocam: You might want to put that in some sort of spoiler tag, just to be safe.

@No0b0rAmA: Pffft, you don't come to Medaka Box for the plot! you come to Medaka Box for 4th wall breaking and Kumagawa!

Oh, well. GBAD won't be defeated THAT easily now will we? Hell no! ;)

Good idea. We'll have to contact a Mod for the name change, however. (and mabye for a pin).

#18 Posted by believer258 (11039 posts) -

Well, I joined the Steam group. But... I can't help but think that the anime thread getting deleted was a bit odd.

#19 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@believer258: It was most likely due to a bug in the system. who created the original thread never received a PM about his thread being deleted so I doubt any of the mods did it.

Sounds like we just had the most rotten luck on the forum!

Okay, no conspiracy theories!!

I didn't follow up with kids on the slope, how is it?

#21 Posted by Bocam (3551 posts) -

@No0b0rAmA: It's now Scott Pilgrim VS the World.

@Cloudenvy: Images can't be spoiler taged

#22 Edited by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@ManU_Fan10ne: Kids on the Slope is alright. I've never been a big fan of romance shows with that many people in play at once and I also think it's a little rushed from time to time.

Music is fantastic though and there are definitely people out there enjoying it a lot more than I am.

@Bocam: Oh really? odd.

#23 Posted by believer258 (11039 posts) -

@Cloudenvy said:

All right. It still came across as a bit odd to me.

#24 Posted by ManU_Fan10ne (662 posts) -

#25 Edited by EquitasInvictus (1868 posts) -

@Bocam: Wait, really? I'm gonna try to place the image first, highlight it and then click the spoiler block button and see what happens...

EDIT: Woah it looked like it was going to work but then it didn't post. That might be a bug?

EDIT2: Man even when I try to mess with it in the code option for parchment it's still all busted. Oh well, I can imagine designing the code for spoiler tags to work with the odd way images work on these forums to be a tricky process.

EDIT 3: So I finally got it to work; you just have to go to code mode and do an old-fashioned straight-up html <img src="..." alt="" /> in code mode editing the div for the spoiler itself. For some reason the parchment options will mess it up. Probably has to do with the different javascripts and their associated divs being in conflict.

#26 Posted by Novis (90 posts) -

Anyone check out Rideback? I thought it was pretty cool. Not great, but cool. Only 12 episodes, so it wasn't much of a time investment.

#27 Posted by No0b0rAmA (1490 posts) -

@Bocam: ....Is that a good thing?

@Cloudenvy: I'll definitely check it out then!

#28 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@Novis: I totally forgot Rideback existed, I had no clue what anime you were talking about until I looked it up. Well, if you say it's cool then I'll give it a look over the weekend.

So I made an account on my anime list: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Hunter5024 If anyone could make me some suggestions based on what I've seen I'd really appreciate it! Preferably something with an english dub.

@Cloudenvy: Hosoda films are almost always brilliant. I really liked Summer Wars, too, but I'd still say the The Girl Who Leapt Through Time would be my all-time favorite of his films.

My all time favorite anime film ever would actually be 5 Centimeters Per Second. Hit me personally since I could actually sympathize with the premise. Such a poignant, bittersweet film!

#38 Posted by supermike6 (3523 posts) -

@EquitasInvictus: When I first watched 5cm Per Second I didn't really get it, but on my second viewing I really liked it. I've never seen Summer Wars though, is it any good? Only thing I've heard is that it's like Digimon, which doesn't seem very promising...

#39 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@EquitasInvictus: Weirdly enough I kind of don't like Summer Wars. It just seemed like he went "Remember that really good Digimon movie I made a while back? well, I want to remake that but kind of make it worse and have it be double the runtime!". I still have high hopes for his new movie though.

#40 Posted by Turambar (6484 posts) -
@ManU_Fan10ne: It's good.  You should watch it.

Alright, real Moyashimon talk.  After 4 episodes of watching the live action adaptation, man that show is weird, and that's saying something if the source material involves a guy that can see microbes with his naked eye.  The main problem has to do with its attempt to replicate the anime's sense of humor, which simply comes off as stilted acting.  Tropes like one person gaping in fear as another screams at him looks pretty funny in animation, but replace it with real people and well, there is a whole lot of dissonance there.

That said, I'll keep watching it.  The microbes are far more adorable in CG form and the actress they had to play Kei looks really fucking hot.

I have an idea, guys, let's all talk about why Major is the best anime ever.

Or not, we can talk about other animes too. I'm down.

#45 Posted by Knave (548 posts) -

@DonChipotle: Yeah, Major is awesome. Sports Anime always tend to be my favorites. Shame that Season 6 was pretty weak because of all the unnecessary filler they added, even though the Manga was already finished by the time. The 2 OVA series that came out after were worth it though.

#46 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@DonChipotle: Ookiku Furikabutte is the best baseball anime of all time.

#47 Posted by Knave (548 posts) -

@Cloudenvy: The first season of that show was one big baseball game. That's about it.

In my mind, season 5 was the real finale to the series. Seriously, that last episode was a perfect ending. The fact that it reused the season one OP as the closer cemented this. Season 6 wasn't bad, but it felt like everything was resolved way too quickly and none of the new cast other than Murdoch had any room to grow. Oliver and Emily and that other lady were just kind of...in the background.

Bro I will cut you.

Nah, but for real I like Ookiku Furikabutte but Major has Sato Toshiya so that makes it better.

#50 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

@Knave: That's kind of why I like it so much, having one game span 10 episodes is insaaaaaane.

@DonChipotle: I've never watched Major, so I wouldn't know. : (
