@Cloudenvy: I don't know, Medaka Box is pretty hit and miss to me. The author comes up with some really interesting ideas then just runs them into the ground or completely ignores them. Kumagawa is great, but everything about his character is super inconsistent and the only other character I find enjoyable in the slightest is Zenkichi. Also I was just so disappointed when it didn't end when the anime started, would've been a great ending.

@Dagbiker: I'd hardly call Lucky Star racy, I can't remember any sexual scenes at all to be honest. It's more cute girls doing cute and sometimes otaku like things and spending 10 minutes talking about how to eat a choco cornet.

To me, a 25 going on 26 year old male. A show that has 17 year olds playing sex games is racy.

I'd agree if it actually showed any such games, or attempted to enact scenes from them, but that's not really the case.  Konata's geekdom has always just served as a source of humor for Kanami to dig at.

Fastest show I've dropped was Medaka Box. Lasted 5-6 minutes after the op and couldn't take much more of it.

Hmm... I remember that one. I didn't make it past the OP. I turned it off as it started. If I recall it was a very short opening that managed to focus on the characters breasts and ass for no reason other then to be an example of why anime is starting to bug me.

You guys are missing perhaps the most well written shounen, but I don't blame you for dropping the anime considering that it's adapting the part where the manga was nearly cancelled.

It gets so good after that. But yeah, if you don't like fanservice then you probably won't like Medaka Box.

Maybe I'll check out the manga.

I don't know, maybe it's just me who is a complete sucker for 4th wall breaking and self-referential humour.

You're not the only one ;)

@DiscoViking: You don't like Ajimu?! blasphemyyyyyyyyy!

Honestly, I just can't help but like a shounen that pokes fun SO HARD at shounen tropes as Medaka Box does sometimes (especially towards the end of Ajimu's arc).

Anime games I wish would get made, but never will:

  • Highschool of the Dead survival horror co-op class based RPG.

I don't know how they could make that series into a game, unless you want some anime chick flying her tits into your face every 10 seconds. Seriously, the first episode had more zombie violence than the rest of the series.

I don't know, maybe I'm being too picky.

#209 Posted by Cloudenvy (5891 posts) -

@AlexanderSheen: Something about Gintama just didn't click with me from the first few episodes, I don't really know why.

#210 Edited by Jesna (85 posts) -

@Cloudenvy: The Ajimu arc was great, it just lasted way to long and didn't commit to the ending. Actually I guess you can say that about all of Medaka Box's arcs.

Okay, so who is watching what for the Summer season? I know that I am stoked on the new Moyashimon series.

I'll prob give most of them a watch.

I would really like to see what Sword Art Online is about. Kokoro Connect is another.

#212 Posted by Cloudenvy (5891 posts) -

@DiscoViking: I don't know if I ever expected it to actually commit to that ending, so I wasn't necessarily disappointed. Heh.

Don't get me wrong, if I had to pick a Nisio Isin work I've read that I consider the weakest it'd be Medaka Box. I very much consider it dumb fun.

@Cloudenvy: Those episodes mainly for core character introductions. But after that, they are, like, waiting in a line on the Wii's launch day, but the store doesn't have enough Wii's, so they have to battle it out to get one by playing video games in a tournament against the Shinsengumi guys. And stuff like that.

But I'm not gonna force you to watch it. At least you tried.

It's basically an 80s buddy cop show with the Gurren Lagann cast, which fits almost a little too well.

Holy shit the final episode of the Live Action adaptation of Moyashimon is fucking insane. It's called Tales of Agriculture but it ends with rocket punches, bombs dropped from planes, giant robots, and fist fights between two armies over a castle. How the fucking shit.

Oh what, I have yet to watch the live action adaptation. Is it worth it?!

All 11 episodes are up on either Funimation's youtube channel or Hulu.  The acting is...not that great actually, but it is a very, entertaining watch because it is CRAZY hilarious.
Went back and watched the anime version, and it seems like that ends at the halfway point of the live action one.  A lot of the smaller details were changed but the general plot remains the same between the two, which leads me to believe season two will have the second half of the live action plot.  That means episodes far more insane than the 3 Day Lock-in Festival are in our future.
#248 Posted by asian_pride (1654 posts) -

Just finished Kids on the Slope and man, how that ending was so rushed. Felt like they cut a lot of events about halfway through that final episode. I'm like, that's it? That's your big finale? I don't know, I don't buy it. It's too bad. I liked the first part because it had emotional content, and then just falls apart afterwards.

Great show to an otherwise disappointing ending. Would've given it an 8 or 9, but it's a solid 7 I guess.

That sounds great. Probably going wait on watching the live action adaptation, though. I am really just interested in season two of the anime.
