Also, i still have to find an anime that can beat batman animated series.

The Big-O. Batman suddenly has a giant robot, Alfred is suddenly both master mechanic and user of mini guns and grenade launchers, and Robin is an android.

Darker Than Black has a Chinese Electric Batman as its protagonist and you can find it on Netflix and or Hulu. Don't watch the second season though, it'll break your heart.

Look at me I'm replying in a thread about anime on the non-anime site and trying not to be a jerk about it wooooooooooo.

Hi, I guess you're new here. In fact I'm sure you're new here. As someone new you really shouldn't be telling people who aren't new what GB is for because they have contributed to GB in ways that you just haven't. Now, I don't care what happens to Anime Vice really. That doesn't mean I wish it or its fans any ills but I really don't care. That said, I also have no problem at all with them trying to drum up support for it (or any other WM site) on GB and neither should you. Also, there is a lot of cross-over between the Anime Audience and Video Games. There are even Anime and Anime Inspired Video Games, you know, like Catherine and Persona and Disgaea and many more.

Anyway, what I'm saying is this, don't tell people to go elsewhere and what they should or shouldn't do here when you've part of this community for less time than they have.

Anime Vice is one of the things I find most disappointing with the WM sites. The fact that they don't have much of a figure head at the site is the big thing for me. There is no Will or Jeff or Vinny or whoever really. I mean they have a guy that does stuff for them (god can't remember the name) but he has a small budget and from what I can tell doesn't even work in the WM offices like the rest of the sites. (Though I'm not sure about that)

Its too bad that they can't find anyone to work at AV. It sucks that professional people can't be fans of anime. Its such a great media outlet. The stories are crazy and diverse, great action and some good animation. But cultural differences and bad rep goes a long way for anime. Too bad really. If I was any good as a journalist and wasn't only 18 years old, I'd totally apply to work for Anime Vice.

Seriously the best people I can think of to work for AV right now would be the guys that run Fakku!. Which is a hentai site (yeah yeah I know) but they are real cool guys that like to interact with the community and seem like a good face for anime....if it weren't for the fact that they run a porn site. Yes, I am fairly new here, about three months now I believe.

You assumed a bunch of different entirely untrue things about me in that paragraph you wrote. I know that fans of anime and video games have a crossover, though not as much as you might think. You might want to take a look at my avatar. As for anime-inspired video games - yeah, I do know. In fact, there isn't a whole bunch about popular video games that I don't know at this point, though many of the finer points and more elusive games still slip my mind.

I also don't have any problem trying to drum up support for Anime Vice, but it seems like a futile effort if the community there doesn't care and the Whiskey Media guys don't care. I was simply suggesting that he go look somewhere else because it seems like Giantbomb - or anything on Whiskey Media, for that matter - doesn't put out much anime content and doesn't have much anime discussion.

You know what happens when you assume? You make an ass out of you and me. Don't do it again, especially based on two fucking sentences.

Okay, I love anime myself, but I gotta get this off my chest no matter how blasphemis it sounds, here it goes.

DUB IS BETTER THEN SUB! It is just plain BETTER to listen to a show in your own damn language and understand it then having to stare at the screen to just try and understand a single sentence. the only reason anyone should really watch sub is because it is easier to get to then dub. Even then I do agree that anything made by 4Kids deserves to die, Anything made by pretty much nearly every other anime publisher has great voice actors in ENGLISH. (of AMERICAN if you really like America.)

Also, thank all things good in the world for funimation for dubbing one piece now. Thank all things great in this world.

The biggest failing of dubs in many cases is its inability to capture some of the more nuanced meanings behind words and phrases. Dubs of shows like Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop work well not just because the voice work itself is well done, but because the english language fits in their settings, and sounds natural coming out of the character's mouths. Compare that to something like the dub for Gurren Lagann. A big stumbling point for the dub of that show revolves around the japanese term "aniki". It has a distinct cultural meaning in Japanese and there simply is no good English analog for it. Thus when you hear Simon use the term "Bro" (or for something more relatable, Nanako calling the MC "big bro" instead of "oni-chan" in the Japanese dub in Persona 4), it ends up sounding awkward. That's something that can't be solved with simply better voice work.

It's been awhile since I've been to Anime Vice, but it seems it's a whole lot of people doing "battles" and nobody really willing to lead the news front of the site. So yes, the community is small and niche, but it's small and niche in the same way that a super obscure videogame website would be, in that it services itself, but not much else.

@Jay444111: I wouldn't mind dubbed anime if they actually had more voices to choose from. You think it's bad hearing Nolan North's voice in everything? Dubbed anime has 20+ Nolan Norths that are in everything.

I'm happy to start discussions based on my Japanese Visual Media course! We're watching Mononoke Hime next week, beginning with a discussion on monster theory and Japanese ideas about the supernatural and resulting in a discussion of the film as it reflects Japanese ideas about the relationship between the supernatural and the natural world.

Love that damn movie.
