Anime Vice has failed me. maybe the bomber squad can help

Okay I have vague memories of an anime that I saw once a decade ago and need help trying to find what it was. I saw it on the Action Network, a digital cable movie station that played ghost in the shell and akira sometimes. It was ultra violent, and the specific scene I remember was this:

Two men are battling on a beach, neither one gaining much ground against the other, when suddenly they are both crisscrossed with wires and cut into tiny chunks ala Resident Evil laser grid. The wires are then zoomed out o their origin, an unicorn whipping it's mane around. The unicorn may have been standing on the water......

Anybody have any suggestions to what this could have been?

Were they using weapons, or was it unarmed combat?

I have no idea what it was, but this sounds awesome.

I have no idea about this either. Sounds like something from Tokko, but I highly doubt it.

Your description sounds like something I have seen before but as of right now I am simply unable to pinpoint to any specific show. Need more details. Were people who were fighting wearing armors of some sort? What kind of unicorn are we talking about here? Like this in Saint Seiya?

And the show you are describing also sounds similar to ScryED. But there were no unicorns as far as I can remember. Do any of these people look familiar?

The only show I can distinctly remember where wires were used as weapons is Hellsing Ultimate. But that can't be it since Hellsing came out in late 2000s. Here is one of the scenes involving use of wires as weapons:

I was thinking it was unarmed combat, defiantly no armor. Maybe sword fighting? Was really weird. But I'm glad you guys actually want to help. Go go giant bomb!

lol, but yeah, I think it was made by Koei as it was essentially another Dynasty Warriors game.

So I think it maybe this "The Twelve Kingdoms" anime..... but I don't want to hunt down and watch forty five episodes to prove it. anybody out there seen that one?

@Hailinel: I am the op..... caught an image tagged "twelve kingdoms" that looked like the unicorn i vaguely remember.... but then again, decade old...... vague memories.......

Perhaps Reign the Conqueror from 1999. The horse is very mean-spirited and a vicious battle horse. With the armor, it could look like a unicorn. I don't recall any wire killings, though.

The Skull Knight was rather vicious and had quite the violent horse.

Was there a person in command of the Unicorn or was the Unicorn its own boss and summoned the laser field on its own with no command from someone else? Also, was the series futuristic (with the laser field and all)?

Longshot, but I seem to remember Elfen Lied , was 1. gruesome 2.used random powers to cut body parts. 3. Blood Everywhere.

@Sneakybadger: I don't remember it having any horses in it though.

the anime vice board is finally getting around, and like here I'm getting a lot of x1999. maybe I should look into that one. Or maybe I am really crazy?

As for style of the anime, kinda the late eighties early ninities style, big chunky Fist of the North Star derivative, and I'm pretty sure they were sword fighting.......

@chu52 Yeah, I just block out the "Battles" and "RPG" boards on AV by default. Problem is that when you do that, you see how empty everything else is compared to GB. Without getting into that shit, I did see your topic over there, but couldn't think of any offhand that fit the description. Saint Seiya was the closest I could think of, but I don't remember any unicorns cutting people into chunks (through there was a guy who fought with armor derived from the spirit of the pegasus or something, been too long since I've seen that show).

my horrible searches found that Battle Angel Alita has microfiliment wire...... but where and how? it looks similar in style to what i remember. And once again, big ups to the GB community

I can be of no help here but that scene sounds crazy as Fuck I would almost just let it live in your memory there is no way it can be as awesome as you made it sound.
