Death Grips is an experimental hip-hop band. Some people dig them, some people don't, but I personally love them. I think it's important to get into them the right way. So I'll post one of their most accessible songs.

If you dig that sound, I recommend downloading their album "The Money Store", which is probably their best out of the three albums.

Yesterday they leaked their latest album, "No Love Deep Web" purposefully, leading them to possibly get dropped from their own label. But, if any of you guys actually do listen to Death Grips, we should totally talk about NLDW, because it's crazy.

I know that @Hot_Karl: is, but it looks like he hasn't used the site in months, and also has changed his name from VinceNotVance.

I'm really a fan of them, but I can also see myself tiring of them (i.e. me and OFWGKTA).

Also, that fucking album cover.

The only death grip I like is the one I get from that oriental lady who gives me happy endings after massages.

I just heard about them the other day and I think they're awesome. Listened to The Money Store (I've Seen Footage and Hacker are my favourite tracks) plus I just heard NO LOVE DEEP WEB which is as you say, fucking crazy.

Love them, but I haven't got around to listening to NLDW yet.

The Money Store was awesome. I think that the No Love Deep Web album cover is a bit too much. What are they trying to get across with that?

I haven't listened to NLDW yet but this is so dope.

Death Grips are awesome, I should listen to NLDW soon. Also, this interactive music video thing may have been made in conjunction with MTV, but it's legitimately pretty cool:

@ThePickle: @UlquioKani: I'm pretty sure they were just trolling with the album art. There's a bunch of alternative covers out there people are making if you want to change it.

Here's the one I'm using

I'm suprised they didn't include @deathgripz in this. That was one of my favourites

I'm on the fence with them.....I like the production but I just can't get into Stefan Burnett's vocals.

#16 Posted by PeasantAbuse (4777 posts) - 7 months, 19 days ago

I love them. This song is so fucking heavy. It cuts off though, it's supposed to be around five minutes long...

#17 Posted by A_Talking_Donkey (235 posts) - 7 months, 19 days ago

I enjoy Death Grips but neither release this year has topped Exmilitary for me. That mixtape was excellent.

#18 Posted by SecondPersonShooter (375 posts) - 7 months, 19 days ago

@A_Talking_Donkey: I think TMS is the apex. I love that album.

In college last year we would just start impromptu dorm-room mosh pits to that album. Hacker specifically.

It's the perfect visual representation of their music: one turgid, angry cock.

I was drinking whiskey and flipping out to No Love Deep Web a couple nights back. It's such a bad influence, it's great.

A couple of duders introduced me to Deathgrips (and neither of them have posted in here yet & ) and whilst I haven't listened to their whole catalogue yet, I really enjoy what I have heard from them.

#23 Posted by ArtisanBreads (1763 posts) - 7 months, 19 days ago

They are fucking AWESOME. The new album is very cool too. I hope it doesn't cause a big issue with the new label though, considering they seemed to have just said "fuck you" and released it free. Also the cover is a dick with the album name written on it haha.

Death Grips and Clams Casino are the most exciting things in Hip-Hop right now.

This. The Money Store is probably the only record tagged with 'hip-hop' that i've ever been able to stand, let alone enjoy. "I've Seen Footage" was my entry point.

I love Death Grips. It took me a long time to get into them, especially with Ex-Military; but now I'm hooked.

As far as NLDW is concerned... good God is that album crazy... I've listened to it almost 2 dozen times in the last couple of days and I still can't wrap my brain around how I feel about it.

The song "No Love" however, is glorious.

Friend of mine posts their videos and such on FB from time to time, I tried to listen to it; not my thing.

#29 Posted by knitlife (44 posts) - 7 months, 18 days ago

@SecondPersonShooter: oooh thank you for posting this. Death Grips can be a little hit or miss IMO, but when they are on they are stunning. Hacker was by far my favorite song by anyone this year.

#30 Posted by Apparatus_Unearth (2742 posts) - 7 months, 18 days ago

Yup! I was just listening to Death Grips, I think I'm gonna go see them in Detroit. TRIPLE SIX FIVE FORKED TONGUE

Not my thing personally, but adding variety to hip-hop really can't be a bad thing these days.

#32 Edited by Sploder (689 posts) - 7 months, 16 days ago

Just went and listened to Exmilitary, that mixtape was fucking great! This is one of my new favourite bands and I only heard of them like 5 days ago. I hope they tour in the UK.

Just found out about them. I only listen to a small amount of rap/hip-hop, mostly in just the last year or so as well. But I've listened to a lot of punk and stuff so Death Grips totally made sense to me right away. It's hard to understand what he's saying, but after reading the lyrics to some of the songs I gotta say those are some great fucking lyrics.

Subatomic penetration, rapid fire through your skull!

For some reason, I was never really into Death Grips before (I don't know why) but I have listened to all three of their albums back-to-back tonight, and HOLY FUCK DEATH GRIPS ARE AWESOME.

I had the same thing. They just totally clicked for me one time.

I love Hip Hop, but I hate metal or anything like it. And sorry but the lead vocal sounds kinda retarded, like it's actually pretty hard for me to understand what he says, and I listen to underground all the time.

Been listening to them for a couple weeks and I fucking love them.

I really want to go see them on the 29th. I imagine that would be a fun as hell show.

#46 Posted by SirOptimusPrime (1556 posts) - 6 months, 5 days ago

I only have Exmilitary but that album is fucking killer. I'm just listening to some of No Love Deep Web and it's pretty sick too, but Takyon and Guillotine are some of the hardest tracks I've heard in years.

They have a backing track and Flatlander isn't involved, so I don't think it'll live up to your expectations.

It's the only hip-hop thing I've ever liked. So yeah, I'm a fan I guess. NLDW is definitely the best album too.

I wasn't a big fan of Exmilitary but The Money Store is my favorite album this year. I haven't gotten around to No Love Deep Web yet.
