Such as those found on Fanfiction.net? I used to write some for a while, but I took them down and decided to just read them. I'm thinking about getting back into writing my own. I was just wondering if anyone else here like reading somebody else's or writing their own.
Also, are there any other sites that are worth noting? FanFiction.net is the only one I know of.
Anybody here write and/or read FanFiction?
I used to read a lot of fanfiction a few years ago, never tried to write any myself, and I found a vast majority of it was utter tripe. But every so often you came across a good one that sadly either was never finished or ended up being abandoned after so long.
The best one I've ever read that springs to mind was a KOTOR 1 & 2 story. It started off with the Malachor battle with the Mandalorians and the Exile brought aboard Revan's flagship after the Malachor incident. Revan tries to persuade the Exile to join her Sith movement, the Exile protests, Malak secretly loves Revan and is angered to see her trying to replace him with the Exile as her 'right hand man'. We now realise why he betrays her later on, he only stays by her side to learn what he can and gather his strength. Insert obvious duel between the Exile and Malak, who loses his lower jaw in said duel, queue angsty moment between Revan and the Exile as they square off. And finish with the Exile realising he is outmatched and aboard a starship full of soldiers loyal to her and her alone. Insert crazy escape scene and fast forward to fanfiction of Exile and Revan meeting again in the outer rim.
No, because it usually sucks, and even if it is good it isn't true canon to the source material, so I have a very hard time caring about it.
I hate how a lot of fanfiction writers think they are more important than they really are (a lot of them edit wikipedia pages saying "in fanfiction character X continues the story by..."). They even have a friggety article on " shipping (fandom)".
That said sometimes the more light-hearted and zany stories are good for a laugh, and if it's what people want to do they can do it...
I LOVE fanfiction! My favorites are Doom: Repercussions of Evil and the Half-Life: Full Life Consequences series:
"I love those vids because it pretty much tells you the story, in all it's illiterate glory (well, I've only seen Full Life Consequences, I assume Repercussions is similar).

That, and they were stupid to begin with just by reading them, but someone making them into G-Mod machinimas that ultimately make fun of how stupid they are, it's all worth it.
Anne sighed as she sat in her room, staring at her wall. She just
finished writing in her diary, and had nothing to do. Life was boring
in the Secret Annex, but it was better than the alternative. It
was alright talking to Peter and Margot, but they were both such quiet
people, unlike the always active Anne. All of a sudden, a flash of
light appeared in the room! Anne jumped back, stifling a scream. Before
she could run out the closed door she noticed that the person who
appeared in the flash was not a Nazi officer, but someone who she had
never seen before! His clothes were very strange, and his hair was in
a spiky style that was totally new to her. She stood against the wall,
wary of the stranger, but he walked towards her and smiled, extending a
hand. "My name is Goku." The mysterious stranger said. Anne nervously
put her hand in his. He bent down and kissed it softly, then let go.
Anne blushed, feeling something she had never felt before go off inside
of her. "My name is Anne..." she replied quietly. "I'm sorry for what
just happened," Goku told her, "But I was caught in a time portal and
deposited here! My power cells will recharge soon, but until then, I'm
stuck here." Anne had no idea what the handsome visitor was talking
about, but she played along. "Well, sir" she said. "You may stay in my
room as long as you like!" Anne blushed again as she said this, and
giggled slightly. Goku looked around, and then sat on the bed. "Thank
you for the invitation. I'll be sure to repay you for it soon." Anne
did not understand what he meant by that, however, when he spoke, she
felt a warmth deep inside of her. She sat by him on the bed, staring
at the man's beautiful eyes. Finally, she could stand it no longer.
Anne leaned over and kissed the stranger on the cheek, and then pulled
back quickly, not sure of what she had done. "I'm sorry..." she said,
as she stumbled to find the right words. The visitor smirked. "No,
that's quite alright." He replied with a smile, putting one arm around
her. "You know, you're a very beautiful girl, but I... well..." Anne
looked at him, troubled. "What's the matter?" she said, with a sweet
smile. Goku looked nervous. "I... I'm already married." he finally
managed to choke out. Anne pulled away from him abruptly. "No!" she
said loudly, almost in tears. "I'm sorry..." he replied. Anne was
furious. "Nothing ever goes right!" she cried out. "I have to go
now, my power cells have recharged." said Goku. Anne was in tears
by now, staring at the wall so she wouldn't see Goku's face. He
smiled a sad smile, and disappeared in another flash, out of Anne's
life forever. Anne never forgot him, though... not until the end of time.
I've been known to read a fanfic yarn or two when I feel the urge. I really hate it when people don't break up paragraphs though. If it's too difficult to read, then I skip it. I'd usually go read some Star Trek. Some people would also create the "slash" variants (which is gay fanfic, i.e., Captain Kirk & Spock having a love affair)...Slash could be good for a laugh.
No way I hate just the idea of fanfiction. It may be irrational but it offends me. One of my sisters is way into that shit and has written some awful awful fanfiction for Supernatural. If you are going to write some fiction come up with your own material. In most cases most people might write shit, but at least its theirs and they gave it a crack. I can respect that.
"Who wrote this? I think it's really good!"

" I'm doing a TLOZ: Link's Awakening sequel fanfic. Haven't written in ages though.4 I also have Riviera: The Promised Land, Super Mario and Zelda lesbian fics. And a sex fic based on my fanfic. A friend of mines loves it, he says it's like perfectly written hentai. "WTF you shouldn't be allowed to have friends.
But I do, HA!" @Demo said:

And I won't ask you what you saw wrong with what I write, it's pointless.
