Anyone else find it hard to enjoy other shows after Giant Bomb?

After experience the off-the-cuff wit and humor of the Giant Bomb staff, doesn anyone else find it hard to watch or listen to other shows or podcasts? Especially ones that are heavily scripted or overproduced?

I'm not sure if my tastes have changed in general from not watching television for years, but I find most, if not all, talk shows, sitcoms, variety shows, podcasts, etc. to be extremely dull. I used to enjoy them even after ditching the cable company, but now I can only watch MythBusters and movies and fully enjoy it.

Now I'm working through all of the back catalog of premium shows, and even when the Giant Bomb guys are doing mundane things such as walking around a level to find a skull or something, I'm enjoying every second of it :)

Can you  give some examples of shows you did find interesting before?

As much as they say some pretty childish shit, I find the GB crew are way more 'mature' than other journalists. Whenever I see a Gamespot or IGN or 1up or whatever interview or show, everyone in it are all really young and giggling every 5 seconds about shit thats not very funny and usually quoting memes. Patrick is the same as this in my opinion, however its totally fine when theres only one of these types of guys because they help balance stuff out. When there's 4 or 5 really young hipster like guys who just want to troll and are a bit inexperienced, its abysmal and makes for a boring show.

In terms of video game video content, absolutely, GB is nailing it pretty consistently. I think the GB have just done a great job of adding their own personality into their content, and when you watch their vids its like you're right in the room with them. it's refreshing compared to the fake plasticy nature of most TV show/podcast/internet personalities.

I can't listen to any 1Up podcast or Weekend Confirmed.

i can and will listen to alot of other podcasts because sorry to say giant bomb isnt the be all and end all of video game "journalism" giantbomb is entertainment

that said i dont listen to many other "entertainment" podcasts so i guess gb win that prize

i love the gb crew and all but their opinions are fairly one sided and based on weird personal values (exactly what we come to expect and trust about giantbomb by the way) ill listen to something liek weekend confirmed to hear what an industry kiss-ass like garnett lee has to say , ill listen to the geekbox to hear what a bunch of out of touch nerds think about the latest thing , ill listen to podtoid to hear a foul mouthed british homosexual rapist give jonathon holmes a creepy chill down his spine for 2 hours .. etc etc eheh

that reminds me i have to go read the verge to fuel my hipster opinions further so i can make an informed gaf post

Parks & Recreation, Late Night with Conan O'Brien/Jimmy Falon, Community, The Office (US), The Daily Show, and I used to be able to listen to podcasts from IGN, 1UP, and GameSpot. I used to love Let's GameSpot and On the Spot back when Rich Gallup and Jeff were there. I'm not sure if I would still enjoy those shows if Jeff and the crew didn't split off and become this quirky bunch, or if it's just a general change in tastes. I even prefer watching videos that I've already seen on Giant Bomb over again than new content on TV or Hulu.

I think you might've nailed it! It seems like the Giant Bomb guys know when to act dumb make fun of situations without resorting to cringe-worthy memes. I'm starting to like Patrick a lot more recently, now that he doesn't seem to be trying too hard to fit in. I do wish he would stop feeling the need to recite an entire wiki article on a game for his Quick Looks, though.

I've been thinking about it, and it seems like a bit of Jeff's personality or mannerisms have rubbed off on each of the Giant Bomb staff in some way.

For the last few years, my commute to and from work (a 25 minute drive or so) is my podcast time, so I'm able to stretch a typical 3hr bomcast for a few days. I listen to Rebel FM and/or 8-4 play to fill any gaps, but I have way more fun listening to the Giant Bomb guys.

Love everything Giant Bomb does, and their content is a big part of our relaxation time. My girlfriend and I cancelled our cable TV years ago, so Netflix, the Giant Bomb Roku Channel, the CNET Roku channel (well, that's mostly me -- SHOUT OUT TO BRIAN COOLEY) and to a lesser extent Hulu Plus keep us entertained. I wouldn't have it any other way.

The only other gaming podcast I've enjoyed is IGN's Three Red Lights when it was Goldstein, Brudvig, and Clayman.

I still listen to a few other gaming podcasts. I enjoy Rebel FM because I hear about a lot of indie and iOS games. 8-4 Play is great for a Japanese edge. CAGCast can be interesting, especially when the hosts hurt each others' feelings and cause drama. A Life Well Wasted is fantastic, but very sparse in release... it's been over half a year since the last release. Weekend Confirmed is alright when I'm bored and need something in the background while I'm gaming, the host is pretty knowledgable.

Well, just stumbled on to some Happy Hour shows, and I see now why that idea died. But it does have that 'it's so bad it's good' vibe a lot that none of the other videos have.

Not at all. I just get that "the grass is always greener on the other side" feeling when I'm watching something besides Giant Bomb. I even do this with Giant Bomb content itself. When it's a video of a game with the most potential for hilarity, or my favorite Quick Look pairings, I usually save that for later watching with a nice dinner.

Wow, this is the same exact thing that happened with me. I'm more of a Brian Tong guy myself, though :)

Hearing 4 buddies who share the same sense of humor and have good chemistry joke around will always be funnier than scripted stuff. Well, not always, but most of the time. I discovered Spill.com after Screened shut down, and those guys are like the Giant Bomb of movies. 4 buddies reviewing movies and joking around. They've been making me laugh more than Giant Bomb recently, but that's probably because they aren't afraid to get more crude with their jokes.

I've actually had kind of the opposite effect with the Earwolf podcasts. It's kind of hard to listen to an episode of improv4humans and then go back to the Bombcast and find it as funny as I once did.

For pure comedy genius unrelated to gaming, Stereo Radiation. As for video game podcasts, I've tried a LOT over the past 6 years and I would highly recommend RetroForce Go and Idle Thumbs; I've re-listened to all their material at least once. Idle Thumbs is hilarious and Retroforce GO is a nice change of pace from other retro gaming podcasts that review retro games just to dump on them so they can be edgy, hip and snarky.
