Anyone gonna go see max payne this oct?
I have never finished the game, or really got into it.
But hearing about how good it actually was, i might have to watch this
I'm very skeptical of Hollywood's ability to turn Max Payne into a decent film, so I'll wait for the reviews before I decide if I am going to see it.
I'll be there on day one. Looking forward to it in a morbid kind of way because I know it'll probably be a pretty poor transition but still, the idea of Marky Mark smoking fools in slow mo is too much to pass up.
Ugh. I don't know about that film. I mean the scene were Max Payne does that stupid jump-shoot thing to shoot the lock off that door. That works in video games, but in movies that comes off as cheesy and (some other word I can't think of right now). It looks like it actually COULD be decent... But I'm pretty skeptical. But at least Uwe Boll isn't directing it, right?
On that note: Who's going to watch Far Cry? Hahah.
"I'm very skeptical of Hollywood's ability to turn Max Payne into a decent film, so I'll wait for the reviews before I decide if I am going to see it."I'm skeptical of Hollywood's ability to turn any game into a decent film. More than likely the movie won't turn out so good.
"FengShuiGod said:Well I mean comic/movie adaptions have turned around, take a look back at the first x-men film, maybe that was a bad example lets go back farther then that. Take a look at the superman films or even the old captian amercia movie and now look at flims like Iron-Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark knight. It really depends how much dedication and time you put on a project but I am pretty sure if they spend alot of time and dedication on it then it will sure pay off in the long run. Besides with today's CGI and tech everything seems possible, I am looking at you spiderman. >_>"I'm very skeptical of Hollywood's ability to turn Max Payne into a decent film, so I'll wait for the reviews before I decide if I am going to see it."I'm skeptical of Hollywood's ability to turn any game into a decent film. I had heard that they changed the plot around from the games. Not sure exactly where, may have been here. But I will wait for the reviews.
First of; I love the Max Payne series. I often install Max Payne 2 and run through it just one more time. It's such a cool game.
Trailer looked promising apart from that angel thingy but that could just as well be one of Max's dreams and is, in that case, fine. When is the movie set by the way? Mark Wahlberg looks younger than Max did, at least in the second game where he kinda looked like Harrison Ford. Not to mention Mila Kunis as Mona (she looks like ten years too young).
But it feels good that i's not just another Boll movie and I will probably see it, the action looked pretty true to the games and that's a really good thing.
"As a huge Max Payne 2 fan, I think this movie will suck balls. Supernatural demons? It's like they're trying to make it awful."As a Max Payne fan, I would've expected that you'd know that the "Supernatural Demons" in the movie are quite possibly hallucinations caused by the drug Valkyr, which is featured in the game.
Surprisingly enough the "Supernatural Demons" look quite similar to how Valkyries are depicted in Norse myhtology.
Also, the dev's for Max Payne were Finnish.
Of course, I could be wrong.
I don't remember winged creatures being in the game. Maybe they're part of the surreal nightmare sequences. Mila Kunis naked is nice though.
Max Payne was full of Norse mythology subtext and references.
The winged Valkyries, as I mentioned above, are hopefully a hallucination of the Valkyr drug.
Let's hope the director took these Norse mythology references onboard, and will keep it relatively faithful to the source material.
I don't have much hope for the movie anyway to be honest, as there have been many rumours stating that the movie will be PG rated.
How can we truly empaphise with Max's situation in a movie that's got a kids rating?
"First of; I love the Max Payne series. I often install Max Payne 2 and run through it just one more time. It's such a cool game. This movie is set Oct 17, 2008. If you mean in the movie in general this movie is set in the first max payne game.
Trailer looked promising apart from that angel thingy but that could just as well be one of Max's dreams and is, in that case, fine. When is the movie set by the way? "I'm pretty sure it was confirmed somewhere that there would be actual supernatural demons as opposed to imaginary ones."Naw, I don't think thats the case. In the game all we herd and read was "The flesh of fallen angels" The flesh, "The flesh is coming" I believe in the movie we are actually seeing what they are talking about in the game. :P you max payne fans didn't catch up on this?
Anyway this is what Mark said about Max payne and the script in general ----> Mark Wahlberg:I read the script, and then obviously I wanted to see how accurate the script was and how satisfied the die-hard fans of the game would be.After seeing the game, I had never seen a video game that was that elaborate when it came to the story. It’s awesome. It really is.So I thought it wasn’t like one of those other leaps of faith where you have to have the writer come up with interesting ways to try and fill in the blanks. The story is there, and it was just a matter of executing it the right way."
"SW:He’s very demanding, I know! I’ve seen some footage of him on the set.
MW:He’s very demanding, but the end result is well worth it.If it hadn’t been, we wouldn’t be here together today. You can read what the whole interview here"

But yeah we can all rest assured that this won't atleast get and F or a D atleast a C up..
I make a point of seeing most of the tolerable video game movies at some point. But I think I'll be catching Max Payne in theaters, as it does look somewhat promising.
As for the demons, we can only hope the writers didn't change the premise of Max Payne just to make it different from the game storyline (which they seem to do often with these sort of conversions).
I have a principle of not seeing movies based off of games, especially when they're based off of games that I don't like.
