No... really, I am asking a legitimate question here. It seems that for every video made by British people seem to be far funnier than the American videos of people either A, doing fart jokes, or B, Jackass stunts. While with British people it seems like it is more about the accent and their reactions to things than anything else. I am not trying to be offensive. It is just that they seem far funnier in terms of humor.

This video would honestly be only 1% as funny if an American did it.

I don't know why, but this literally cheers me up and makes me laugh at any time I wish.

It seems to me at least that British people are much more funny and entertaining than Americans... and I am a damn Native American so that says something... maybe.

I think it's person to person rather than "a nation".

Apparently, you've never met an Airalist. Some of the funniest motherfuckers I've ever met hail from that Kingdom.

All subjective isn't it, but actually I happen to think that yeah they totally are. I'm a big fan of a lot of British comedy, and British people I've met tend to be a lot funnier in general than any other dudes I meet, at least to me.

Trollnation.

But yes they're the funniest as humor is an exact science and doesn't vary from man to man.

I prefer it, but hey, I'm English. Still love a lot of American comedy and stand-up acts though.

I like dark comedy and I think we do that pretty damn well, we can cross that line of acceptance on serious matters; its smart and funny but you feel guilty after laughing. Oh, and satire is pretty good here too.

That's an impossible question to answer, as "funny" is incredibly subjective.

Edit: And no, I'm not disqualified for liking Tim & Eric.

British culture is quite a bit older than American, but these days we (Brits) mostly lap up whatever you Americans produce.

Americans have a weird inferiority complex about certain things, like, look at the amount of British actors in Hollywood.

There's no answer. Some British comedy is amazing, but some of it is god awful. Just like American comedy and any comedy from around the world.

@MrKlorox: So, did you read it, because the sub-header is:

The Difference Between American and British Humour.
Apart from the spelling of the word, obviously.

It is written by Ricky Gervais and doesn't seem to contain bias either way. It's a well thought-out article actually.

Louis CK, Lewis Black, Brain Pohsen, Zach Galafinakis, Tim Heidecker, Eric Werheim, Brian Reagan and Chris rock all disprove this thread. Although Ricky Gervias is funny.

I think that a higher percentage of British actors are comically capable, but I find Americans who specialize in humor (e.g. stand-up comedians) to be funnier.

I really like British humor, but I'm not ready to declare it the best or anything. The English don't do standup nearly as well as Americans, as it were. Between Carlin, Bruce and Pryor you have the three funniest standups in history. Than again Americans never got a troupe as talented as Monty Python, and I can't stand US sitcoms for the most part.

No need to generalize

but Bill Hicks was American and he was possibly the greatest comedian of all time.

@BestUsernameEver: Technically, since Louis CK is Mexican as well as American we can only claim maybe half of him. But hey, that's a funny fucking half.

Also you have a bias against dead comedians like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Mitch Hedberg, and so on. Why do you hate dead people? Hmmmmmmmmm?

And also also, If someone were to argue British people are inherently unintentionally funnier than Americans, which would make professional comedians beyond the purview of discussion, I might agree with that.

I don't think it's between the Americans and British, but between people who speak English and people who do not.

My two favorite comedians, by very far, are David Mitchell and Jimmy Carr, and recently I've started checking out British panel show clips on youtube that never fail to deliver on the laughs..so my initial response is yes.

But then there's the Simpsons, which is my favorite Western thing ever, and I think no, I can't decide.
