Never heard corgis referred to as a girl's dog. Not like it's a teacup yorkie. I have a Male Pembrook Welsh Corgi and he's one of the best dogs I've ever had. He's extremely intelligent, loyal, playful, and loving. Only downside is he sheds like crazy.

I have a corgi. He's the manliest little fucker alive. Cats? No goddamn problem. He herds those little bastards like no tomorrow. No more sneaking through the front door while I sign for packages. Plants? He'll pee on those all day. He wants other dogs to know that he is the boss over in this lawn. Strangers? All good. He'll run over and wiggle his little nub of a tail, bark at them and do that little corgi-trademarked dance until they play with him.
I love that dog. They're pretty sturdy animals, too. They're very dense. Great pets.

I think there are only 2 types of dogs : the ones that i like and the ones that I hate , and Im pretty sure this applies to anyone (Except Matthew Rorie :P) so get the dog you want to and tell your dad to shove his "girl´s dog" bullshit up his arse :D
Corgis are herding dogs, so if you don't find herding sheep and cattle all that manly, then I guess you should pass on the breed. I mean, girls love herding livestock to market, right? That's feminine.
(I knew some girls in FFA who'd probably brain me for that quip.)
I'm a heavy metal, wearing almost nothing but black cloths with facial piercings guy. I would totally walk down with a street with a Corgi because their cuteness is badass!
I grew out of the whole girl dogs and guy dogs thing after the jackihuaha (jack russel / chihuaha cross) we have melted my ice cold heart and proved to be an awesome little guy.
Eh..not the most masculine dogs, but you could do worse. What are those dogs some girls carry around in handbags? If you're concerned with such things, your best bet is to get a Pit or Rotty. Preferably one that won't scratch/chew your Hummer seats, or get irritable when you play your rap music. Train it to fight and attack, and if you're really skilled, kick sand in the face of nerds at the beach.
Of course, all that is common knowledge, and being this is a lengthy thread, I'm sure someone has already made similar suggestions.
Whether or not they're masculine it's all just based on the cute badassery of a corgi is something you want or not. It doesn't make you any less masculine to have one. Just don't carry one in a purse unless that's your style.
I reccomend the cardigan subspecies of corgi. They are bigger and have long tails. They are also smarter and cuter. Most people don't realize there are two kinds of corgi. The pembroke is much more common and the cardigan is rarer and was used as a sheep herding dog in wales England.
