Okay, I'm making this thread not only to give people a heads up but for all discussion once the event starts. I hope some of you guys tune in last years event and SGDQ were both fantastic events. If you really want to see some guys do crazy things with video games I'd suggest you tune in! =)

I loved the last one, and I look forward to this one, as well. I hope everyone enjoys it and donates! :)

Sweet! I've been watching a lot of the videos from past events the last couple of months, but this will be the first time I watch any of it live. Cosmo's Zelda OoT from last AGDQ (actually, Jeff showing that on a UPF) introduced me to speedrunning, hope we get something as awesome this year!

#5 Posted by SpaceKangaroo (138 posts) -

YAY! SGDQ was awesome :p glad this is on soon.

#6 Posted by AMyggen (2880 posts) -

Also, SDA's Youtube page is a better way to watch the archived streams than Twitch.

#7 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

@amyggen: On the final day as of right now Cosmo is scheduled to run Wind Waker HD!

#8 Posted by AMyggen (2880 posts) -

Yeah, his run of that game in last year's AGDQ was great, so looking forward to that. Generally a good list of games and runners this year. Good to see PJ running a couple of games, his run of mostly awful games in past events are some of my favorites. I'm guessing we'll hear a lot of Bluegrass' laugh during those segments :P

Event last year blew me away, can't wait. Especially now as I run Vice City myself, looking forward to that one in particular.

#10 Posted by Damodar (1377 posts) -

Awesome, that line up is great!

#11 Posted by BeachThunder (11866 posts) -

Yess, I had a lot of fun watching bits of the last stream.

#12 Edited by HerbieBug (4212 posts) -

Woo hoo! Looking forward to it very much. All of the folks on Speed Runs Live who will be attending have been practicing up doing no-reset runs of their games in preparation this past month. It'll be an great event again this year for certain. Everyone's excited.

#13 Edited by JayEH (525 posts) -

Cool, I'll give it a watch. I've been watching last year's games a lot over the last week.

#14 Posted by csl316 (8488 posts) -

This is cool stuff.

#15 Posted by ArbitraryWater (11649 posts) -

I am pretty stoked for this.

#16 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

@herbiebug: Awesome. Some interesting choices for games this year.

#17 Posted by DonChipotle (2731 posts) -

I always support this and this year is no different!

#18 Posted by Darji (5294 posts) -

nice. I will watch quite some stuff and then be upset about the fact that mostly Nintendo games or NES/SNES games will have an audience while new games and speedrunners are abandoned with no one watching...

#19 Posted by Fattony12000 (7323 posts) -

Such games.

Bitchin'. Missed the one in the summer, time to make up for it!

#25 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4676 posts) -

I do not pay much attention to speed running but this event should be great. Impressive seeing a bunch of folks being real good at their game of choice. I am however looking forward to Cosmo's WWHD run. Seen him practice that a bit.

#26 Posted by Vinny_Says (5700 posts) -

So I've been tuning into RWhiteGoose's stream a lot recently and it's been awesome to see his fanbase grow. I'm really excited to see his run of Goldeneye this year.

#31 Posted by Zojirushi (65 posts) -

YSG get hype!

#32 Posted by Morello (79 posts) -

@demoskinos: Quick heads-up - before people start trying to click through on the "Where can I watch?" Twitch page link you've provided you might want to correct it - it's missing the "a" at the end of the hyperlink.

#33 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

@morello: Word. I'll check into that when I get home.

#34 Posted by buft (3316 posts) -

are they using twitch still? i had heard that there was some drama between some of the members and the twitch staff late last year

#35 Edited by thegoldencat7 (1496 posts) -

Can't wait for this. Got into watching speedrunning last year from watching Funkdoc. And then SGDQ was just unbelievably good. So many memorable moments.

#36 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

@buft: As far as I know they are. If anyone finds out different let me know so I can update the OP.

#37 Posted by Morello (79 posts) -

I would guess they'll still be using Twitch, on their "Streaming now" page every stream listed is a Twitch stream.

#38 Posted by Happenstance (462 posts) -

Im looking forward to this. Had a good time in the summer watching the various speed runs and talking with you guys during them.

#39 Edited by Turambar (6743 posts) -

So, how far do you guys think Sinister1 in his blindfolded Punchout run this year?

#YSG

#40 Edited by JJOR64 (18956 posts) -

VIDEO GAMES!

Looking forward to it. Enjoyed it last year and enjoyed SGDQ last year as well.

It will still be on Twitch. Horror has stepped back for now cause of the drama between him and the runners in question.

#42 Posted by Happenstance (462 posts) -

What is supposed to have happened between them and Twitch then?

#43 Posted by lightsoda (540 posts) -

Let the games begin!

#44 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

@happenstance: http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=719733 As to avoid bringing any negative drama in to this thread you can read up here if you want to know the details.

My friend dxtr is going there! I didn't ask him which games he would be running, but I'm assuming it will be Ducktales and Batman for the NES.

Anyway, he's super good and VERY handsome and you should all tune in.

So thanks to @rorie I was able to get this thread pinned for the duration of next week while the event is going on so it will be easy to find for everyone. I also shot across the idea of having a twitch embed in the GB chat room but the chance of that seems hazy at best. Since a good many of you seem pretty pumped for the event a chat room that we could rotate in and out of seems like a fun idea. I'm not counting on having the GB chat room so what are our other options for a dedicated chat room for the week? Anyone have any suggestions for chat solutions?

Ah, the real reason I miss working from home. I am going to miss practically all of this. BOOO!!!!

It will still be on Twitch. Horror has stepped back for now cause of the drama between him and the runners in question.

I believe he no longer has any association with Twitch now. Pretty sure it was one of those " I 'resigned' " departures.

#49 Posted by Demoskinos (14779 posts) -

Okay, awesome news. Thanks to @chaser324 everyone who wants to watch and chat live can head over to Explosiveruns.com and chat on the IRC channel over there once this thing kicks off.

That sounds super rad!
