I'll have to say Perfume. Yeah...
Bands you feel embarrassed about liking?
The newer stuff has a little less energy to it.
I generally listen to Hip-Hop, but when I'm listening to Rock Music I'm the Paramore, Blink, YouMeAtSix type, so I have a lot to be embarrassed about, but hey.
I actually listen to quality music when I'm actually engaged in the act of listening to music. At times though, I just like to have it going on in the backgrounds, and it's at times like that that I'll listen to some really terrible shit (Paramore, Jason Derulo, and Breaking Benjamin...ugh), just so that it's there. I find that if the lyrics are dull, melodramatic, and generic, and the hooks and chorus's are catchy, I can just have it play in the background without distracting me.
I'm not really embarrassed about liking this guy, but looking through the comments from K-pop fangirls on any of his videos makes me feel dirty. Those moves are damn impressive though.
" I will shamelessly listen to Hannah Montana if it is on the radio, I will even roll down my car's windows and sing along. At the same time I listen to powerviolence, shoegaze, and indie shit, which I'm not ashamed of either. "You should be ashamed.
I love boy bands and girl bands of the 80s and 90s. Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Ace of Base, Boyzone, 911, a-Ha, 5ive, *BWitched, you name it. Love 'em all.
There, I said it. :D I really miss the music a lot. Pop music and boy bands nowadays are not the same. They sound and look terrible.
I try not to tell people I really like Saosin. There's this whole clout around their breed of post-hardcore, or whatever they are.
But all the band members are really talented, instrumentally. It's a Dream Theater-complex. Their genre is enough for people to pass unfair judgment.
only band i don't like to admit to listening to is mindless self indulgence. i liked tight and frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy, but after that they seemed to appeal more and more to the hot topic/jhonen vasquez crowd.
still, great live show, and it's not like their music is much worse.
I'm of the opinion that as long as you realize the band you like listening to is objectively terrible, then it's okay to listen to them. If you get a kick out of listening to, say, Black Eyed Peas, then by all means feel free to listen to them -- just don't ever claim that they make "good music".
I know I listen to a lot of terrible bands for various reasons I can't really explain. Everyone has their guilty pleasures.
" Dragonforce. I recognize that they're terrible musicians from a technical point of view, but goddamnit if Once in a Lifetime didn't get me through a rough time in my life... "Haha, yeah Dragonforce is pretty terrible from a musical point of view. Their lyrical and musical content is incredibly generic and dumb, and pretty much all of their songs sound the same, yet still somehow amidst that shallow pool of hyper-generic power metal there is something that draws you in. I can see how their music might cheer you up on a rainy day, and I assume that's pretty much what they're striving for, too.
Technically, I'd say they're pretty damn good at what they do (at least in the studio). Except the singer, he should not quit his dayjob.
Avenged Sevefold. Really liked Waking The Fallen but they seem complete arseholes and their general persona's and fanbase and other such things make these guys a pretty embarassing listen.
I'm not really ashamed of anything I listen to. I listen to just about anything. I do get odd looks if I have Ace of Base playing or on the other spectrum Skinny Puppy. Meh
I also am not afraid to admit that I love new wave.
Lastly, there is absoultly nothing wrong with David Bowie...well.. Labyrinth, but what's one thing eh?
" Add Lady Gaga to that list...for some reason one of her trance remixes was stuck in my head last night. I blame the media. "There is no reason to be ashamed of liking Lady Gaga.
Paramore and the Blackout, i used to listen to a lot of fall out boy as well but haven't really listened to them lately.

What's wrong with Green Day? Ok 21 guns was awful but other then that they made a lot of good music." I guess if i had to pick id say Green Day and My Chemical Romance since were in a time where there cool to hate. Also theres A Fine Frenzy since i dont know how cool it is to like a chick and her piano but she has a nice voice and its rather peaceful music to throw on while playing through a frustraring game. "
" Emmure. I realize everything but their first album is basically crap, but I still love listening to them. To me, it's the same as enjoying a stupid action movie. It's put together horribly, the dialogue sucks, but it's still awesome. "Goodbye to the Gallows is the only listenable album by that band .
" @ArchScabby said:Yeah, that's what I meant by their first album. I know it's not, but I call it their first because I don't have the one before it." Emmure. I realize everything but their first album is basically crap, but I still love listening to them. To me, it's the same as enjoying a stupid action movie. It's put together horribly, the dialogue sucks, but it's still awesome. "Goodbye to the Gallows is the only listenable album by that band . "
The Mars Volta. It's like a toaster that has 59 different tools built into it, but it's so cheaply built and badly made that about ten of the tools eventually create a fire hazard that burns half of your house down.
