Or album if you wish. By decade I mean 2000-2009. I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Anyway, these are my favorites.
1. Okkervil River- The Stage names
2. Porcupine tree- Lightbulb sun
3. Elbow- Asleep in the back
4. Mountain Goats- Tallahassee
5. Portugal the man- Censored Colors
6. Bill Callahan- Sometimes I wish we were an eagle
7. Maudlin of the well- Part the second
8. The Dear Hunter- Act III: Life and Death
9. The National- Boxer
10. Shearwater- Palo Santo
11. Blotted Science- The Machinations of Dimentia
12. Bonnie Prince Billy- The Letting go
13. Andrew Bird- The Mysterious production of eggs
14. Tom Waits- Alice
15. Califone- Roots and Crowns
16. Unexpect- In a Flesh Aquarium
17. Estradasphere- Palace of mirrors
18. Jim O'Rourke- Insignifigance
19. Yo La Tengo- And then nothing turned itself inside out
20. My Morning Jacket- Z
Not a very original I know, but my creativity is being used elsewhere.

Yeah I corrected that. I forgot about their album Boxer. I also quite like Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers.

K so haters gonna hate but i loved Infinity on High by Fall Out Boy when that was released, also Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand was rather epic. Discovery by Daft Punk also good. This may not be fair tho seeing as for the first half of this decade i really wasnt into music at all.

#26 Posted by KEITH1437 (291 posts) -

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

#27 Posted by Walheimat (50 posts) -

I don't know if it's the best, but the only album of this decade to impress me was: Have One On Me by Joanna Newsom.

#28 Posted by Hot_Karl (3321 posts) -

You crazy people didn't list LCD Soundsystem anywhere. By that I mean the superior Sound of Silver which somehow beats out the stellar debut album.

@Innersloth: censored colors wasnt that good. church mouth and satanic satanist are better. and even american ghetto was better

Loved me some Infinity, but it isn't my favorite FOB album. Probably Take This To Your Grave for me.

Kayo Dot - Choirs of the Eye
Look it up and never regret it. Also, The Mars Volta, Tool, all that jazz. Lots of people posting fluff bs though.

@FancySoapsMan: hmmm I do adore YFIP (agonized over buying that on vinyl last week, ended up going with forgiveness rock record then immediately regretting it) But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I liked the self titled more.

I don't listen to enough music to really have an opinion on this, but the White Stripes haven't been mentioned and that's just a crime.  White Blood Cells, Elephant, Get Behind Me Satan, and Icky Thump all came out this decade.
Edit:  Also, all of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs discography came out this decade.
