Although Guns n Roses appetite for destruction was released late eighties, i'll still name them because they were pretty big early nineties too. Also Stone Temple Pilots core album kicked major ass.
And of course AIC, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam.... I'm from Washington and can't help it :-P
"These are my 5 favorites.Porcupine Tree on your list, nice. But no Opeth?
1. Blur

the verve?! what becuase they had one good song they stole from the rollingstones? please. thats the only song i know them from. most people dont even know who plays that song.
id say pearl jam deserves to be on anyones list. as well as sublime. 311, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS! Oasis. yeah, it was nice growing up in the nineties for the most part. i could name so many more, hell even collective soul
Ugh, Blur, seriously? They had one good song, dumb english band. There only good song was 2 minutes long and it didnt involve much singing, mostly, "whoo hoos"
I could list so many '90s bands or just even just '90s music in general that I enjoyed. In my opinion, the early to mid '90s has some of the best music out there.
From the top of my head, here are some bands that I liked:
Alice In Chains, Bush, NIN, The Pixies, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, Weezer.
. . . and that list can go on.
"Ugh, Blur, seriously? They had one good song, dumb english band. Blur were a great band and were much more diverse musically than Oasis.

Hmm, so first you do the best bands of this decade now the 90's. Are you going to do the 80's next?
ratm, goo goo dolls, third eye blind, nirvana, smashing pumpkins, jimmy eat world(they started in the 90's), and oasis to name some
Modest Mouse, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, My Bloody Valentine, The Olivia Tremor Control, Neutral Milk Hotel, Pavement, Silver Jews, The Dismemberment Plan, Wu-Tang, Elliott Smith, Cap'n Jazz, Sebadoh, The Mountain Goats, Built to Spill, The Magnetic Fields, Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Refused...
nah, nevermind. the 90s were lame.
I'm not gonna write out a top five list because I'm too lazy but Third Eye Blind's first album and Counting Crow's first album are two of my favorite cd's of that era and of all time.
Modest Mouse, Wu-Tang, Pavement, Flaming Lips
There are plenty of others that don't immediately jump to mind
Good bands from the 90's? were there even any?
This thread is filled with good bands from the 90's isn't it?

I kinda miss the 90s, it weren't perfect but there was a better selection of music (IMO)
The 90's had some great rock music. I put it in the same league as the 60's. It's hard to pick a list of tops on the fly, but I can say that two came to mind immediately:
and
Not to nit-pick, but I have to: those bands are actually both from the 80s.
Half the Band mentioned in this thread started/formed in the 80s but didn't get big till the 90s, so just let it be :)
