80's that when all the music began to come around, and all the metal heads took over : D
Best Generation?
A lot of kids in London where I live seem to have come to the decision that the 80's were cool. The british chart is full of synth dance pop played by people that looked like they fell out of 1987's nose. Sorry, I already had to make it through 1987 once, and the 80's in the UK were shit. Sure the TV was cool and there was no heath and safety stopping everybody's fun, but there was also no money.
Best time by far is right now. Today in fact. Enjoy.

It was really a dynamic time for humanity.
-One of the worlds bloodiest wars
-Some of the most "inhumane" acts have been committed during this time. The Holocaust, Unit 731, nuclear bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and I could go on.
-Development in digital computers really unfolded here
-Walt Disney's early works come out of the 40s
-Chuck Norris is born in the 40s
I could go on.
My choice is the 30s-40s generation (actually that would be people born in the teens to 20s), as well. There is a reason why they are called "The Greatest Generation."
- They invented television
- They survived the global economic meltdown call the Great Depression
- They fought and won the defense from tyranny through the Second World War
- They created the "superhero" archetype
- Ralph Baer is a member of the Greatest Generation...he invented video games.
This is just basically a "What music do you like thread". But I gotta say 70's. Some of the most influential artists of all time really peaked in the 70's.
Why would anyone assume this thread is just about music? There is no suggestion of that in the title. I thought it was which generation contributed the most to society or had the most impact on current life. Maybe I am wrong and it is just another music thread, which would be sad because there are a ton of those already.
Anybody who answers "the 50s" is automatically wrong. Anybody who answers "the 90s" is automatically right.
My favorite generation? Well I grew up in the 90's so I voted that. It was when TV wasn't entirely bad or full of reality shows. I enjoyed my Nickelodeon: Animorphs, The Lost Temple (or whatever it was), and others like All That. Don't forget Hey Arnold, Doug, and so on. When the year 2,000 hit everything began to go downhill, especially my cuteness level. In the 90's I was a cute little 10 year old. Now... I am not!

Not just strictly music, not just games, which is why I put it in off-topic.
It's cool to see people saying the 40's though. Had no idea with some of the stuff.
90's are my favorite generation, mostly because I grew up during those years. The Sopranos was just taking off, the N64 and Playstation were delivering Triple-A titles, Nickelodeon was the fuckin' shit, and......well, does anyone remember POG's?
" 80's that when all the music began to come around, and all the metal heads took over : D "Of course metalheads rule the world. oops that's supposed be a secret
I'd go with the 60's when the hippy movement started to take storm. People started acting more freely, if it wasn't for that we would of still been stuck in the 50's for eternity.

This the BEST generation, not the most interesting.. if it was about the most interesting generation i would have to agree with you though.

Pish-posh. Humanity greatest triumphs are how we overcome suffering.
Definitely the 90's. Nickelodeon had some awesome cartoons like Ren & Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life. Much of my favorite music is 90's rap. Plus, the N64 and Playstation pretty much had me wrapped around the controllers. So many memories.....jeez this thread is making me feel old reminiscing about stuff and I'm only 18.
" 60's are the decade that ruled music. So that gets my vote. 90's would probably be second because of all the awesome music, movies and, of course, video games. 70's and 80's fight it out for 3rd place. "I'm glad at least someone has my same rule of thought for the 60s.
I'm assuming a lot of these 90s votes are nostalgia along with the fact not a lot of people grew up in the other decades. With that said, I didn't grow up in the 60s, but it still gets my vote.

Ok, decade-by-decade rating with explanations.
The 90's easily.
Good cartoons. (Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Freakazoid, Doug, Hey Arnold, Invader Zim, Ed Edd n Eddy, Rocco's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Rocket Power)
Good music (More debatable ass to what you like, but we got some NWA, Public Enemy, The Offspring, Nirvana)
Besides, I grew up in the 90's. I'm morally obligated to find it's pop culture superior no matter what the facts are.
