@afrofools: I'm not sure if it's exactly what you're after, but seeing as you're on GB I'd highly recommend Masters of Doom (the story of John Carmack and John Romero, with quite a bit of focus on their various companies). Very inspiring and very interesting.

Aside from comic books/manga lol

I'm currently reading the Guild Wars novels...they're blah, but I'm hoping you'll get a bonus for reading them in Guild Wars 2 :D

Blech.  I thought it was mind-blowing back in 7th grade, now I just find it incredibly boring as a senior in college.

I'm currently reading Benjamin Franklin's autobiography, which is both interesting and hilarious.  Not just saying that because I'm a history education major, either.  I highly recommend it.  You can pick up a copy for $5 or less and it's a pretty quick read.

I'm also reading Derrick Jensen's "Endgame Vol. 1: The Problem of Civilization."  It argues that civilization is unsustainable and self-destructive.  I don't agree with all of his premises or all of his arguments, but it's interesting.

I just finished reading a biography of Richard J. Daley for my History of Chicago class (written by the professor, which made writing the book review interesting), which was alright.  A little biased in its presentation.

I can't wait for my papers and projects to get finished-I want to start Stephen King's "On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft" soon.

Just finished The Strange Affair of Spring Heeled Jack- it was a well-written book, and the first half was great. Around the fifty percent mark, however, there was a reveal that almost broke the book for me, and the rest of the book kind felt kind of stunted thereafter. Still a great read though, I still highly recommend it.

Now I'm left with two choices. Having decided I would wait until summer to read the Malazan series, I'm either going to read "The Dervish House" or "Bitter Seeds" I hear both are good, so I'll probably end up reading both.

"Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown.

By pure coincidence, I'm playing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and keep arriving at the same locations in the book and the game. Also reading in the book about the people I'm working with/against in the game.  Kind of cool.

Alright, it looks like I'm going with Bitter Seeds.

According to the books synopsis and various sources on the Internet, this book is about British warlocks who fight German supermen during the World War.

Hopefully, it's as awesome as it sounds. So far the book is well-written, and it looks like the book was, for the most part, well received.

Reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. Loving it. Next up is Stephen King - either The Stand or Black House.

Other than a crapload of school stuff, I currently read The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat by Oliver Sacks. It's been really wonderful thus far. Anyone with an interest in the human mind should probably pick it up and read it. Brilliant and somewhat scary.

I'm not him, but I read it a while back: It's pretty good. I enjoyed the characters, especially the main character and wireman, it gets worse when the supernatural stuff come up though.

I just finished Dawn of Empire, which is a fast pulp read about a one time barbarian horseman adpting civilization to fight an early Bronze Age battle.  Fun and not too worried about feeling historic, yet one of the few fast fun reads I've had in a long time.

Recently finished Last Argument of Kings By Joe Abercrombie. I always seem to go into some kind of depression after having finished a series of books. (I never want them to end! ;_;) This had a great deal of closure while still leaving enough left for future works. Loved it!

I guess you liked the ending then. I really didn't like how they ended things with Logan when he returned. Not to mention Bayaz's role.

Loved the series though and he really needs to revisit these characters. They really made this book interesting.

I'm attempting to get through the second Mass Effect novel, but it's turned into a chore.  I'm also currently reading an older translation of the 1,001 Nights.  I dig it, but I read a few passages to my wife and she hates it.

FABLES: Rose Red.

Probably a bit weaker than the previous books but it's interesting.

Other than that some horror compilation book from a dozen well known guys. Trying to see which author I'd like to read after this sampler.

I just finished Professor Richard Wiseman's book Paranormality, it was very good. When I have the time I'm probably going to get onto reading one of the Assassin's Creed novels I have laying around, I'm not sure what to expect in terms of quality though.

I am rereading Starship Troopers. I still can't tell if that book is hopelessly realistic, or needlessly masturbatory militarism.

I am reading through a lot more books, but they are all university related.

Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Excellent book. Has a lot of witty humor in it which keeps me reading. Well that and the fact that it was written by two extraordinary authors.
