So I occasionally like a song here or there that Britney puts out. Last one I thought was decent was Womanizer. Now shes apparently releasing a new album which is news to me since she never really pops up on my radar. Anyways, her new single "Work Bitch" sounds way way different than anything that I at least I've heard her do. Sounds way more like an electronica dance track than a straight up pop song. Anyways, whats everyone else think?
Britney Spears new single is...surprisingly good.

These days she seems to be heavily influenced by Will.I.am. Though in reality she abandoned pop a long time ago, I doubt anyone under the age of 22 is even familiar with the ballads and love songs she used to do.
I'm not a fan of this song, I'm sure it'll have its use for teenagers dancing in clubs, not my cup of tea though.
Tedious and dull. Clearly it's not aimed at me, that doesn't detract from it's hideousness though. You have to wonder if the musicians that produced this and the (probably numerous) writer(s) don't feel a niggling, bitter, stabbing disappointment right at the very core of their being that all the money they earn from this won't entirely suppress (the bastards).
I'm all for some popular music, Fever Ray, The Knife, Goat and Lykke Li that have all been incredibly popular over here for a few years are amazing. M.I.A. had a couple of decent tracks a few years ago too. That song didn't grab me at all though, kinda uninteresting synth line and drums.
I seem to recall thinking Britney's Toxic or whatever it was called, a single from about 5 years ago or so, was pretty decent.
...Her breasts.
As far as the song goes, I've heard better from Britney. I'm no expert on her or anything (although I did play an unhealthy amount of Britney's Dance Beat back in the day), but I'm more of a fan of Gimme More and some of her earlier work.
2/5 stars; Britney's getting old and that makes me sad.
Ah, about the response I expected from the "rawr popular music is garbage" crowd.
I don't see anyone saying anything like that. If you ask what people think they should be allowed to give an honest answer.
I dont like this song, I think it's awful, but I don't think that "rawr popular music is garbage".
Different tastes and all.

I can't tell if the condescension is because that's how he rolls or he liked what he heard.
@demoskinos: Bummer. I remember being like five years old and watching Britney, Nsync, and others brainwash me with their catchy pop vibes.
They're all old now and that breaks my heart. We must bring back the Thong Song! Eternal Youth!
I like pop songs but this was still boring to listen to. It feels like, super outdated too. Like this feels more like late 90s electronica than anything that should have come out in the past several years. Also, that kind of repetition has no place in a song with such a flaccid beat as this one.
I quite enjoyed this song she put out a couple years ago.
But other than that since "Toxic", not really interested.

I mean, I don't like the song either but there definitely are a few "derp, pop music is dumb" responses in this thread.
Huge pop person; probably my second favorite genre these days after the rap game.
But Work Bitch is just fine to me. As far as the pop starlet wars that broached during the Applause/Roar battle, Wrecking Ball owns it all.
I dig the "message" a lot more than the music itself; it -- arguably -- sounds congruent with Britney Spears' current status in music. Like, she wants that sweet 1999 fame, but like all of us down here in the trenches, she has been working for it.
It's uplifting and makes Britney seems down to earth and ready for a second try. That's the way I interpreted this song, keeping in mind I am not up in my tabloid news or singing/dancing shows in which Britney might have/is part of.
Or maybe I just wanna keep putting off this stupid chemistry homework. Goddamn you teacher for making us read the text book. Goddamn you, and thank you.
Nah.
I was surprised to find myself slowly but surely becoming a fan of her Gimme More song in GTA V, though.
