Can anyone recommend a digital camera?

I need to get a digital camera for my mom since my dad knows next to nothing about technology. Though I understand all the specs etc., the sheer volume of options is overwhelming. I'm not an avid photographer and never plan to own one so I'm not up-to-speed. If I can get a few suggestions here I can begin my search. Here are some loose rules:

<$150, decent zoom, good versatility (day/sunny/night/overcast), ease of picture taking.

My mom apparently bumbles around with her smartphone, so I hope to hit a homerun with this one. She is NOT a professional. I assume most are 1080p or similar these days, but I suppose that would be nice.

If nothing I've said makes sense, than I'd love to know what camera you own, if you like it.

http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-DMC-FH25K-16-1MP-Digital-Stabilized/dp/B004NBZ8DQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1355696514&sr=8-4&keywords=lumix

What I am using now, fucking great camera.

I'd also recommend a small Lumix. Good quality and have a decent idiot-proof-mode. I don't think many can capture 1080p video though. Also, don't bother comparing MP amounts nowadays unless you want to make printouts several feet in size.

I am a Canon fanboy so I recommend anything Canon. I bought my dad a Powershot and he loves it. He's 66.
