This has been a talking point for a long time now, Ryan's not the first.

How is this spam? The guys had a long conversation on the bombcast about pennies and I thought that this was a weird coincidence.

I've been having "no-more-pennies" conversations since my first semester of '09, before I even joined Giant Bomb.

The no-more-pennies thing has been going on since the 90s at least.

Interestingly, the guy who wrote this article did a study whose data disproves Jeff's "Just give me what's mine" argument, finding that the amount that would be rounded off in the customer's favor was higher on average than the amount being rounded off in the store's favor. But it's behind a paywall so I can't see the methodology, boo.
