I don't know if people follow the What They Play Podcast, but this week they have a Columbine survivor on who has written a book about his recollections about the incidence (from 2002).
Columbine on the What They Play podcast
The interview is fairly interesting and the author's general stance (and the reason why he's featured on a videogame podcast) is the games or music aren't really be blamed for incidences like this... if anything - they are more likely symptoms of existing problems.
It's a fairly interesting episode so give it a LISTEN
how about a game about columbine
Finalist in the IGF if i am not mistaking.
"I listened to this when it first came out. It's really interesting."So did i, and i agree it was very interesting
Isn't WhatTheyPlay a website where over protective adults write up biased information on popular games?
"Isn't WhatTheyPlay a website where over protective adults write up biased information on popular games?"Incorrect.
The guy in charge is actually an Ziff-Davis alum, having headed EGM, OPM, and worked at 1Up before he founded WhatTheyPlay. He's quite informed on the subjects, and the information they provide is hardly biased and incredibly useful for parents. It might not appeal to your teenage sympathies, but the information they provide helps keep parents informed as to what their kids are playing, which is a very good thing. It's a well-run operation and it provides a valuable service.
That said I've never listened to their podcast, but this sounds interesting enough that I might give it a listen.
