I just ordered a video card, ram, and a processor from newegg.

I got a 8600 GTS for way cheap... It has two DVI outputs but i have a vga monitor so i used an adapter. The resolution is 1024x768 and it appears to be off center. There is a 1 cm black bar on the left side and about 1 cm is missing on the right side. How do i fix this?

Go into the monitors menu and press the adjust position button to change the horizontal and vertical position till the picture is centered.

it wouldnt be in vista, there should be a button on you monitor that lets you go through menus. it has nothing to do with vista.

Yea its the button on the actual monitor, just below the screen. Most monitors have an auto adjust button that centers the screen automatically, but if it doesn't its not hard to do it yourself.

Thanks. :)
+1 for both of you.
Now I'm enjoying my new upgrades. 3.1 GHz dual-core processor, 2.5 GB of RAM, and a GeForce 8600 GTS graphics card.
It hits 190 FPS in Counter-Strike: Source. :)
