Wow, this will significantly lower Obama's chance of success... oh well, I guess it'll be interesting to see how this whole election will pan out.

By the way, I'm neutral... I don't like McCain or Obama.

Biden is the perfect fit. Obama and Biden compliment each other well.. Biden is extremely sharp, savvy, tons of foreign policy experience and tons of overall experience.. Awesome pick imo

If Obama chose Clinton, they would have hoppity hop into the white house, now Obama will have to fight hard to get there. Biden's statement of pushing to split Iraq into three separate countries for the Sunni, Shia, and Kurds will come back to hurt both Obama and him now that Iraq has become safer and progress is being made. Biden also has a problem with talking too much. Obama has given McCain and the Republicans a Christmas present in August...

Obama hasn't totally gained all of the supporters of hillary and there is quite the chance many of them will vote McCain. Obama truly had the opportunity to unify the party and take the election out of the republicans hands. McCain has already tied Obama statistically in most polls and while Obama is sure to get a nice boost this week in the polls, Biden as the choice doesn't give him the bounce that Clinton would have. Biden has a mouth that cannot be controlled. Clinton would give Obama the female vote which he isn't guarenteed now (McCain was leading women 40 and over a week ago) and that is one significant population Obama cannot afford to lose.

Although I don't like where Obama / Clinton were headed, I must comment that you appear to be severely misinformed about many things, and completely oblivious as to the mechanisms by which the world operates.

I used to think Obama had it locked, but it seems the country is stupider than I thought.

I'm not really pleased with the pick of Biden, because he's on the wrong side of many important issues. Obama sometimes is also, but this guy has some key votes I don't agree with.

She would have been a really bad choice for him. I mean I think during the primaries she played a little close to the 'dirty' side (well Bill definitely did) and I think she would have brought negative energy between the two.

Joe Biden seems like a great choice. I'm still doing my research, but from the articles about him in the Sunday New York Times he seems to be a respectable politician and a great compliment to Barack Obama.

Now I just have to get the new bumper sticker for my car.

That's a horribly misinformed statement right there. Some of us actually pick Obama because he's the better candidate of the two - I know spreading lies is nothing new for you, as a neocon.

I've read almost every single one of your political posts and they all do nothing but attack Obama supporters by calling them young. There are just as many Democrats among older people, people older than yourself, as Republicans.

The feeling is mutual - as I mentioned in my last part, you call anybody who supports Obama "young", and consequently imply that their opinion is not as important.

Look, I don't mean to call names or anything - I just don't appreciate your rhetoric - if you wanted to criticize Obama, do it on the issues, not on the grounds that many of his supporters are young.

This is what I dislike about the election (from both sides) - people bring up irrelevant things like Obama is a muslim, Obama isn't experiened. McCain's experience in war means nothing for the Presidency besides qualifying his patriotism. Neither candidate has any experience in the duties of the office of the Presidency, it's their stance on the issues that dictates everything. Likewise, people bring up irrelevant things about McCain, such as he graduated 4th to last in his class.

Pedantry aside - all I've *ever* seen you do in political posts is say something along the lines of:

"Most of the people on this site support Obama because they are young [and therefore stupider]. I'm older [and smarter] and I support McCain."

The brackets is what is implied - since without them, the statement doesn't really say anything. If you don't mean what I put in the brackets, why do you bring it up? What does it matter?

Why don't we just stick to the issues? How about it?

It's clear I think Obama is unqualified to be President.  You know, it's possible for people not to like your boy Obama without being "neocons" or evil George Bush supporters, you know.  I just have a thing against brand new senators who lean so far left that they're borderline socialists.

I agree (with your first point). And I apologize for calling you a neocon.

Both parties support bigger government - Republicans used to be a party that didn't, and that is no longer the case. McCain's hawkish foreign policy is one that will inevitably require large investment, as Iraq has.

In terms of tax cuts, Obama's will benefit me, a middle class citizen, more than McCain's, whose tax cuts peak with the richest individuals. Why should people who make millions of dollars a year get a bigger tax cut than everyone else (percentage wise)? That, I believe is unfair, and while Obama is on the opposite extreme, that extreme benefits me more, and that's why I support him. Also, I'm personally not averse to legislation helping the poor and reducing poverty in America.

You'd see things a lot differently if you were one of the "rich" that Obama wants to tax.  I pay enough taxes already, thank you very much...and I'm not even rich, yet even so, Obama would tax me even more.

So you make over $230,000 (the cutoff for tax savings in Obama's plan)? I'd think you're very rich.

The majority of Americans fall under that number.

In San Francisco, a household that makes $230k per year is not rich, not by a longshot.  A typical house in the neighborhood I live in is well over a million dollars.

It's possible for someone on this site to be supporting Obama for reasons other than because "it's the cool thing to do" also. Your original post suggested otherwise--that support for him is some kind of trend, and people on this site, for example, are doing so because they're "young" and want to "fit in".

Honestly, that's no less making an asinine assumption about a group of people than someone saying all people supporting McCain are "Neocons".

At this point, I'm old enough and educated enough that I don't need a McCain fan telling me I'm only supporting Obama because I'm "young and trying to fit in".

Oh, you live in San Fran? My sister lives near there, she's told me about the high cost of living.

So I suppose McCain is the better choice for you in that regard. By the way, what do you do for a living?

Onto a different issue, what about McCain's hawkish foreign policy? A policy that I fear may eventually include a draft - and I may be sent to fight in a war I don't believe in. Moreover, I think there are many people who might believe in the war but won't want to serve.

@TwentyOne - I won't deny there are some who don't know, but I think its a false rumor that most of them are.

Yet, it's still rich by anyone's normal standards. It's a free country. You can live anywhere, provided you could fork up. If you don't want to have to bear more responsibility because you have a much greater income than most people (hell, more than 3x the average of most cities around here) then maybe you aren't qualified to handle that much money in the first place? Middle class families and even some lower class families with children to support have to give away disproportionate amounts of their income relative to what they need to provide for themselves at a comfortable or even basic level, while many above that income gap pay their (highly alleviated, for the most part) taxes and don't feel the strain at all.
