Death Grips seem to have a pretty big following around these parts so I figured I would deliver this PSA that they released a new free album through their Facebook page today, completely out of the blue. It's called "Government Plates."

You can download the album here. Obviously, the servers are getting pounded right now so you can stream the whole thing through their SoundCloud and YouTube page. The whole thing is pretty nuts as you may expect.

Just lost it when I saw this. They're the fucking best.

Absolutely love their last album (one of my all time favorite albums) so going to be digging deep into this one.

Apparently. It certainly wasn't music.

Wait....so is this just a GiantBomb thing or is DeathGrips actually popular. Been following Zach Hill fer forever, would like to see him do something with Nick Reinhart again.

They are pretty popular. I mean I don't know what it's like in raw numbers but they definitely have their following and they've gotten serious critical praise.

They got a big record deal with Epic too but then told their label to fuck off and released their last album for free. So pretty successful so far!

I wish I liked the actual rapping better, because the beats are rad

Ohhh shiiiiiii-

Three tracks in. Great stuff. Their performance at Fuck Yeah Fest in Los Angeles was the maybe the best show I've lived through. It was definitely the most intense. People were jammed together so tight, some were climbing trees and trying to start a mosh pit, and it was just a undulating pit of the damned.

Had the chance to listen to it all the way through once already today. The first track definitely stands out. This album is a bit different than the previous three, MC Ride's rapping takes a back seat on quite a bit of the album. Definitely leaning more toward the electronic. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

Nevermind, upon further review, this is way more electronic than previous DeathGrips. Almost zero rapping and just random voice cuts. I'll pass.

I love it, but there's less rapping then I'd like. It's almost like a really raw prodigy album at times.
