So the story goes.. you were washed up on a deserted island (with electric and a music player) but you only had ten albums on you at the time (musta been weight restrictions from the airport -_- ). Which would you choose?!?

1. Genesis - Foxtrot

2. Genesis - Selling England by the Pound

3. Jerthro Tull - Thick as a Brick

4. I and Thou - Speak

5. Toxic Smile - 7

6. Yes - Close to the Edge

7. Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element

8. Supertramp - Crime of the Century

9. Devin Townsend - Terria

10. Pat Metheny - The Way Up

yes, as you guessed I'm a bit of a progrock nut.. anyways let's hear your desert island albums! I'm always looking to hear new music, obviously I whole-heartedly recommend these amazing albums ( I better not hear any ignorant hate about Genesis, these albums were when Peter Gabriel were the lead singer and they weren't terrible)

  • One of my Chopin collections. I don't remember how they're supposed to be organized (the CDs I mean), since I changed the metadata and reorganized them into folders by Waltzes, Nocturnes, Impromptus, etc. I'll take the Nocturnes and the Mazurkas. They're by far the longest, at four hours together. I'll count those as two.
  • " "
  • Johannes Brahms - Orchestral Works, Wolfgang Sawallisch
  • My Bach collection. The violin concertos, orchestral suites and Brandenburg concertos are in the same album.
  • Antonio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons and Violin Concertos, Itzhak Perlman
  • My Beethoven symphonies. I believe they're all in the same set. If I can only take two, then 5 and 9.
  • Sign o' the Times
  • Electric Ladyland
  • Another Green World
  • Physical Graffiti or Horses by Patti Smith or Songs in the Key of Life or Abbey Road

I'm a coward, so I'm not going to be ranking my list. Many of these albums I just get that craving to listen to. The Kinks in particular. They are the Lay's Chips of bands, I can't just listen to one album. For a couple of these albums I'm not sure I'd say they are all time favorites, but they have their hooks into me at the moment.

Hmmm... I always have so much trouble with these lists. But here is what i would probably bring as of this particular moment:

  • Archers of Loaf - Icky Mettle
  • Built to Spill - Perfect From Now On
  • Crooked Fingers - Bring on the Snakes
  • Fang Island - Fang Island
  • Godspeed You Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

  • The Receiving End of Sirens - The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi
  • Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun
  • Wheat - Hope & Adams
  • 65daysofstatic - One Time for All Time

If I did this tomorrow, I would probably have ten completely different choices.
