Dicked Over Due to Train Tickets

  Woke up round a mate's house after a party. Ran to catch a train. Didn't have time to buy a ticket which would have cost £1.70. Tried looking for a guard on the train to buy a ticket off. Couldn't find one. 3 minutes between stops of alighting and disembarking. Got off. Bastards at the ticket barrier gave me a £20 fine.
 I am probably in the wrong, but fuck it. I am going to buy £1.70 of chocolate, post it to whoever does the appeals, and hope they rescind my decision. I have also illustrated a depiction of this morning's events to what I feel is a high degree of accuracy.

Dude, I'm glad that happened to you or else I wouldn't have gotten to see those awesome drawings. But yeah, once me and my mate bought tickets, waited for the train and then just before we got on, the ticket dude wouldn't let us on because 'we looked like trouble makers' ...lolwut? 

Wow, I live in Blackwater, so I'm only 3 stops from guildford, and I've never been told me to pay the fine if theres no guard on the train. I feel for you though man, I really do.

Okay guys, so I am getting ready to appeal. Should I give them my illustrations straight up or shall I ask them if they wish to see them first? I am leaning towards the former as they may not wish to continue correspondence after this one. Here is what it looks like so far
 

 To whom it may concern,

I was in a rush to catch the train 0838 train from Farncombe to Guildford. I didn't have time to buy a ticket at the station and just managed to get on. I attempted to find a Guard from which to purchase a ticket, but I was unable to. I arrived at Guildford within at most 5 minutes from boarding the train. I attempted to purchase a ticket at the barrier but I was simply berated and burdened with a 20 (twenty) pound fine. Which is a considerable sum of money for a student such as I.

I have a railcard and therefore the resultant fee of the journey should have been £1.70 (one pound and seventy pence), which I am more than willing to pay. In fact, I'll pay the full fee of £2.60 (two pounds and sixty pence). I would very much appreciate it if this penalty fare could be at least downgraded to an unpaid fare.

Here is an illustrated version of events. It may be slightly inaccurate but then history is impossible to replicate perfectly, no?

Does the UK have different prices for these things? Because when I was in the UK (Manchester area) we just had to pay double the amount of a ticket, which still sucked ass though as it was like 6 quid.

You either have to pay £20 or double the train fare, whichever is bigger.
