Personally I only bump old threads only if I have something useful to add and not just quote or repeat what other posted before me.
I know I could have made it into a poll topic but I figured everyone have their own reasons for doing so. I also wanted to know because I keep seeing people opening threads about topics that were already started by someone else and their reason for doing so is that it's an old thread from a year ago. Fuck I know I am guilty of doing the same myself.
Do you bump old threads?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
If it's a game specific thread, I still reply. Even if that person has moved on and doesn't need the help or whatever, someone else who comes along might.
I think it's kinda stupid when people get mad for other people bumping old threads. What's wrong with keeping the conversation going? Unless it's like some random off-topic thread I don't know what's so bad about it.
Not really, I do post in really old threads when there's a relatively new post but I don't bump them.
I try not to. I guess if I had something very important to say or thought it contributed to the conversation I might consider it. Also depends on how old the thread is.
I don't really do it, but I don't have a problem as long as the topic is still relevant.
But, if someone now decided to bump a post titled, "I hope Gears 2 is going to be awesome!" Than that isn't okay.
" @Blair: So why oh why do people open new one for the same subject. They just word it differently. "To create a more efficient or perhaps viable thread that solves the flaws of the old thread.
That's the beauty of a pure market system.
If you don't post in the new thread, it is bound to fail, just as its predecessor did.
On the odd occasion and only with a valid reason.
I have noticed quite a few members have been guilty of this lately. A new member will bump one unknowingly, and a seasoned member rather than just leaving the thread alone, will post their displeasure, only inciting another to post...
I'm gonna be that bumper. I'll bump this thread to outer space to get an answer, if needed." I can't wait until this thread gets bumped in a year with a simple "no." "
Well, I'm beginning to notice people whom just signed up to GiantBomb and making their first post count to a very old thread. Seriously, I've seen it happen several times.
i bump old topics when i find something interesting in them, something still relevant today which i ask about or try to discuss.. recently i bumped an old GTA IV topic about the DLCs and whether theyre gonna be released for PC too which is important to me and the new DLC isnt even out yet, and everybody kept busting my balls about it.
i mean so what if its old? whats that social disease you have that makes you only interested in the latest shit going on so you can be a part of it and crap like that? its old and it was bumped for a good reason, i dont see a problem.
I often link back to older threads if someone has reposted a topic that has been talked about at great length, and I might comment inside a thread that has been dug up from the grave by someone else.
There are two Off Topic threads I think that should be stickied though, so I guess you could say I bump them from time to time.
" I often link back to older threads if someone has reposted a topic that has been talked about at great length, and I might comment inside a thread that has been dug up from the grave by someone else.I went ahead and temporarily pinned those to the Off-Topic and General boards to see if they can get some more exposure.

"
it depends how old or how useful the topic was....
if its one year old and is something really stupid ill even go as far as to ask them why the hell they bumped it
I still see people bumping dumbass threads like the Political Racism or whatever the fuck that thread was about. Personally, though, I wouldn't bump an old thread unless I had something useful to add, taking into consideration that someone might want or need more information on the subject.
Yes, if I have something relevant to add and it isn't a low-quality thread to begin with. It's better than starting a new thread because then you get the "Use the search button!" posters.
Well, I'm not going to go into an old thread and say "bump" or anything useless like that. But if I have anything informative to add to the conversation, then I will post in an older thread.
