Poll Do you enjoy going to parties? (484 votes)

Fun as hell to me, I love going to a party. 13%
I'm not really into the party lifestyle at all. 40%
I only enjoy going to a party with friends. 32%
Every now and then I do. 15%

Afew weeks ago I went to a dance club for the first time. It was with two friends (Keon and Khail) from my job. Keon is really into the party lifestyle. He told us a whole bunch of crazy stories about the club, and that it can be pretty easy to flirt with girls. Anyway I've decided to go just out of curiosity...and it sucked. Hell even he didn't enjoy his time at the club either. Keon's cousin was with us too and he wasn't into it.

As for Khail it was his first time too. For most part I felt very out of place at the club. We had to pay 10 dollars to get in, and first thing I see was girls twerking. Some of them were fat and just unattractive. The longer we was at the club it started to pick up more. Then some cute girls arrived, but they was stuck up as hell.

Keon tried to flirt, but got turned down twice. As for me I was just laid back and just watching. I was sipping on some tequila that Keon's cousin gave. It tasted like shit and you'll feel a burn in your chest. Then later on I ended up paying 23 dollars for more shots (Since Keon's cousin asked). I started feeling weird and hot after the second shot.

I recorded alittle bit of footage at the club, but you can't hardly see shit. Next thing I know I ended up taking a picture with this girl, and I wish I didn't. Overall the whole experience at the club was lame. Alot of guys at the club wasn't into it, and most of the girls was unattractive. Keon and his cousin said it wasn't suppose to be like this, and that the next club we go too will be better then this. We all know Sunday wasn't a good day, but all of us was off of work and had nothing better else to do.

I did back in "KOLLEGE".

But now i'm an "a-dult" as Ryckert says, I really only go now and then when my friends have them. Lucky for me, my friends don't usually have them.

Also I'm 31, if this helps.

Sounds like a shitty club. Over here in New York, it's fun as hell. But maybe because I'm still pretty young (22 you old farts!).

In my experience you meet a lot of douche bags at clubs but at the same time it's a great place to pick up chicks. I do enjoy the campus parties here a lot more since it's more personal with at least a couple of people you know and the people are far more educated/intelligent therefore making the atmosphere more easy going!

Just sitting down with people I'm unfamiliar with at work is enough to bring out my awful anxieties. I'm very much an introvert and I can't do anything about it.

Never been to an adult-style party and I don't know if I ever will. I'd probably panic and become nauseous. Just the thought of going to one terrifies me. I turn 22 in January and I've never drank alcohol or done any sort of drugs in my life.

Needless to say, I didn't have a lot of friends when I was in high school.

I've just turned 22 afew days ago. I almost regretted doing something at a strip club recently, but I won't talk about it. Nowadays I just want to have fun. I didn't enjoy my teenage life at all...I hated it. I was fat as hell at the time and didn't have friends. As of now I just want to enjoy life since I'm slim and getting older.

I don't want to go back to having a negative mindset. At this point I just want to live life and enjoy it while I still can.

Couldn't have been that bad i went to the strip club with my buddies for my 18th hahahahahahhahahaha P.S 18 years old is the legal age over here.

Bleh, parties. Supposedly they are for meeting people, but talking to anyone is next to impossible with the noise, and everyone has their guard all the way up. That atmosphere just isn't enjoyable at all.

I can enjoy hanging out at a quieter bar and chat with friends mostly, and I'm not opposed to talking to some new people if they are just gonna hang out for a bit. But honestly would just rather do that at a buddy's house.

I like to hit a house party, especially if I know people/have friends there. I hate clubs, and I think they're a lousy way to meet people, what with the noise, and the weird lighting, and uncomfortable clothing and such. Plus, I'm deeply introverted, interacting with even people I know well can be taxing, so meeting strangers in a dark room is especially draining.

Don't swat clubs, man, or bars for that matter. There are a lot of ways and places to meet people, and it should be in a way where you are comfortable with the situation, and maybe the people around you share interests or have something in common. New friendships are great, but you don't have to force it to make it happen.

If you mean the typical party, with the ear-destructive music, gallons of alcohol and dancing, then no, I fucking despise parties. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing anyone who enjoys parties like that, hell, most of my friends love such events, but for me? It's absolutely terrible. My idea of a party is where a bunch friends get together and have fun without getting wasted or becoming deaf. I tend to like parties that have more socializing and less BOOM BOOM POW! BOOM BOOM POW!

I've gone to some parties I've actually enjoyed, but in the end, I'd rather just hang out with a small group of people who just talk.

I've never been into parties in general. I'm classic extrovert, and being in heavily crowded social situations for an extended amount of time just saps me of all my energy.

Birthday parties, family get-togethers etc, I'm all on board for (love them), but I only very occasionally venture out into parties haha. Just not really my thing. I'd rather just have a low-key get-together with some good friends and/or family.

Going out to a club to socialize isn't fun. Going out to a club to dance when you're the right amount of drunk and with other people that like to dance is awesome. Parties are great as long as the other people there are interesting and a party with friends around a campfire near a lake or river is pretty much one of the best things you can do.

I like the idea of partying. I never much enjoy the actual experience, and if I do then it's because I was way more wasted than I should have been and then I don't enjoy the next day as I remember all the dumb shit I said and did.

I don't like mediocre music being blasted at absurd volumes, shitty coloured lighting, obnoxious drunk people, crowds, dancing, the taste of alcohol, meaningless small talk (especially when the environment is so loud that everyone has to yell), girls wearing ridiculous amounts of make-up, or the feeling of being drunk (it's not terrible, but I've never gotten any of the positive effects people talk about: my coordination and balance become fucked if I drink enough, but things don't become more fun or funny, and considering how expensive alcohol is -- particularly if you want something that doesn't taste completely revolting -- it just feels like a huge waste of money). So no, I don't like parties. The only good part of partying is talking to friends on the way there or when you're sitting at a McDonald's afterwards.

I'm certainly not someone that heads out to the clubs every weekend or anything, but once in a while it can be Hella fun to go out with a bunch of friends, head to a bar first for a few drinks then go to a club, that's got a cool vibe and plays music that you're into and just let loose. This is really dependent on being with people that are cool and you feel comfortable with, finding a club that you like and feels like somewhere for you and even with all of that some nights are still going to suck, you might not be in the right mood, the music might suck, the place could be absolutely packed to the point you can't breathe, or completely dead.

Having said all of this, if you're not into it, don't go, there are loads of other ways to socialise. You can find a quiet pub to drink and chat to friends, or meet people for coffee, just hang out and watch movies, clubs and parties are not for everyone and totally not an important part of life.

Trust me it wasn't bad at all. It was one of the best experiences I've had in along time. I ended up spending abit over 200 dollars. It's alittle unsettling that the stripper knows where I work, but o well. It would be fun to talk about what happened, but it wouldn't be appropriate at all on the forums. Though it got me thinking about my actions.

I don't want it to become a habit everytime I get stressed out. It's a good time don't get me wrong, but drinking and getting involved with slutty women isn't a good idea. I was just a completely different guy that night...that creepy one. I became that guy that just wants to have some fun with no questions asked. Considering there's a girl at my job that likes me, It felt abit wrong, but since I'm not in a relationship with her. I can't really feel bad about what took place in the strip club.

Anyway, now I'm in the mood to hear a stupid song that's been stuck in my head.

Man, this story the OP posted sounds EXACTLY like my first time going to a club earlier this year.
I went out of curiosity, and felt i should be more outgoing since i was 18 at the time, and the club was terrible, the venue was the size of a shoebox, the DJ was right next to the bar blasting music right into my ears. And whenever i tried to order the drink, the bartender would go "WHAT?!" I ended up writing my order on a wet napkin.
Also yeah my friend tried to hit on a few girls, got rejected every time. I just watched him dance the night away, alone. And speaking about dancing, i have no idea how to dance, and dancing is clubs is not like ordinary dancing, it's basically like 3rd base, people grabbing boobs and crotchal regions.
So yeah, clubs kinda suck in my opinion.

I went to a Christmas party for my work once when I worked at a pub and had a really good time, most likely because it was open bar and everyone there was comfortable with each other. We had some drinks and played some games for like gift cards and stuff.

House parties and clubs are literally the lamest things on earth, everyone talks about them like they are just like Hollywood parties but they never ever are.

Social interactions are complicated for me. I was either totally ignored or the most popular bullying target in school, and although I learned not to take it personally, it still makes talking to people difficult.

I don't get invited to parties, I don't really know what I'd do if I did. I don't go to clubs, either-- I have friends, but they all live long-distance, so we don't hang out in person. I guess if I went, I wouldn't do drugs (no interest), and I'd probably only flirt with someone who I thought I had a chance of scoring a few dates with, before we really did anything.

I have gone to concerts, though, and comic book conventions. I feel a little nervous at those, but I can stand or sit somewhere in a sea of people, and not really feel like I'm in the spotlight, so it's okay. I don't think I'm afraid of people, I just don't like having more attention on myself than I'm comfortable with.

I'm more of a, I just like hanging out with my girlfriend type. Obviously if you are with someone, there isn't much point, at all, to go to a club. Especially with your girlfriend since she'll probably get hit on.

I have reached a stage in my life though where social networking would probably help me business wise. It is a tough transition as someone who has never really enjoyed parties. I'd imagine doing so regularly when you are younger would better prepare you for that sort of thing.

Dude, you didn't go to a party. You went to a club. Clubs are full of sleazy people who you wouldn't want to take home anyway (because you'd get "more than you expected" if you catch my drift) and you can't hear or really talk. Parties are usually with some people you know, at a house, than are way less "twerking" and more drinking and socializing.

I went to one of the largest party schools in the country, and you definitely didn't experience a party.

I think party implies some kind of celebration. Bars and clubs are some of the saddest places on earth. The vibe I get from them is people getting inebriated hoping for the chance of random fornication. The personalities that the people from those places project are a facsimile of what they think will get them to their goal. My friend throwing Superbowl parties is a good example of what I find a great party. Pretty much everybody shows up early to play videogames and are excited to talk to each other. Nothing feels forced or fake. The people you meet have a much better chance of being the person they project they are. Many beers are consumed but in the comfort of friends instead of the judging/scheming eyes of strangers. Dumb decisions are held to a minimum by people who care saying "you need a cab" or letting you know if you've been putting your foot in your mouth a bit too much.

Depends on the mutha fucking party doesn't it.

I've been to some shitty boring parties in my time, I've also been to some holy shit what the fuck just happened parties.

The thing is most of the time you can tell which is gonna be which when you show up.

then there are those 1% nights when shit gets weird and you have a story to tell for the rest of your life.

I guess I'm saying those dude ranch nights can sometimes be worth it.

Sipping tequila? You're doing it wrong.

I prefer a good house party with people I know, some good conversation and maybe some people banging on some musical instruments. Or a good ol' campfire on the beach or elsewhere. I used to go out dancing til 4am and always kind of just felt jaded about everything afterwards. Nowadays I just feel clubbing is for the young(er than I.)

I like to party all night long. If you're home before 5AM you have seriously fucked up somewhere along the way.

Clubs, on the other hand, suck. They're full of arseholes who are there purely to fight or fuck. They can be quite fun to mock though.

Unfortunately, my stomach decides to fall out of itself at the whiff of alcohol now, so the only partying I get to do is with Mario.

Parties are alright depending on the party. Some can get boring and predictable, especially family gatherings, but it depends all on the crowd and who you're with.

Clubs, however, are pretty awful. If I'm going to drink in public, I'd much rather sit in a bar either watching a game or chilling with friends.

Not at all. I enjoy going to concerts, which are often at clubs, but that's the extent of it (and generally leave as soon as the last band goes off the stage, I can't stand staying around with all the drunk people). I generally don't even enjoy eating out with other people.

Thought your were talking about house parties, which are pretty cool, especially since i'm living in a large student housing complex. Clubs are really hit or mis for me, and a lot of that is dependent on the mood i'm in and the generaal mood at the place I'm going. I've been to some great clubs (fabric/The Roxy in London, Weekend in Berlin), which had everything from great music to a good crowd of people. But yeah some clubs can be just boring. Don't just write off the entire concept of 'clubing' (god I hate that word) based on a single experience.
