Plain cheesecake tastes kind of off and the texture isn't very appealing either. It's only good when it's something like chocolate cheesecake, though in such cases I would prefer it just be chocolate cake sans cheese as it would taste better that way. Add some chocolate mousse and fudge in there, maybe chocolate frosting with chocolate chunks - now we're talking.
I like it, but too often it's way too rich/thick. Even if you cut a thin slice, the cake itself could be 4 inches tall. Too much for me. Gotta have something tart, like fruit coulis, to balance the flavor.
I honestly don't get the universal love of cheesecake. I've tried it several times, and in all instances I needed a napkin handy to empty my mouth's contents.
